My situation im in is this, im 17 next year and im trying to decide which one of these to get! Its either the CBR 125R as i like love the looks, its a sporty type, which still is a 4stroke which goes 70mph! This is also a good option as i like to go on long rides (adventures) and this bike being a 'sit up' it will be comfutable!

Or

The Varadero, ive seen this on hondas website and it looks 'great' Its again a 4stroke 125 which again does 70mph, but this looks more "adventure" and more comfutable too! Which would be great on long journeys! But ive read that there quite big and heavy? im wondering do you think this would affect me, i fairly tall so i dont know!

But im stuck on which one to get, as i love going out and trashing my bike about, getting my knee down etc! Which would suit the CBR 125R, but i also love going on long journeys (adventures) which would suit the Varadero! Could anyone give us some help? Any advice and opinions would be greatfull!

Cheers

The Varadero is an excellent bike... You will just look like a wannabee and get laughed at on a CBR125 imho (Not trying to be insulting, just is the general consensus over here that CBR125's aren't that good)

I'd have a Varadero if I have the chance! Smile

Try a CG125 as well, but try and get a later model with disc front brake and electric start. These are comfy bikes, don't pretend to be something they're not and are light as hell! Smile

I took my cbt on the cg125, defo a very nice comfy pratical bike but the nsr feels more safe (naturally due to lower c of g and riding pos etc). I'd go for whichever you feel most comfy with...

Had my Varadero just over 2 weeks now Very Happy . Brilliant bike. Thumbs Up It is heavy though - in fact I think it's the heaviest 125 produced (140kg dry weight). Also it's a twin so nice and smooth running.

Went from Surrey down to the Isle of Wight and pottered around the Island for a few days and then back to Surrey. Really comfortable on long journeys - mind you I was pleased of the weight coming back in the high winds yesterday. Shocked Shocked

Getting about 84 mpg but she is still running in. Cool

Didn't get it much above 60 but as I said it is running in and I did not want to blow it up too soon. Shocked

Corners well but I'm not one for getting my knee down - too old for that malarky. Rolling Eyes In fact the biggest problem I have is getting my leg over it Embarassed (carefull folks - I mean the bike Wink )

It came with Trail type tyres which are a bit lumpy on corners.

Both bikes are underpowered and over priced in my opinion.

If you don't mind that you're paying possibly £1k or so for the sake of looks and will be getting reduced performance, then go for which ever you prefer the looks of, seeing that you're paying for the looks mostly Smile.

Personally I'd look at something like a DT125 or similar.

I would get something that is a 2 stroke, I had a KMX 125 and once derestriced (removed washer from the expansion pipe) it put out a healthy 24bhp. I could embarrass some much bigger bikes at the lights Laughing

Disclaimer: Desrestricting your bike will probably invalidate your insurance (if they found out) and is against the law, probably, but I didn't give a toss when I was 17 !
