Silverstone National - 12/13th November (?85)

Anyone interested in this?

There's about four of us from work probably doing one of the days. Hottrax are running trackdays on both Sat 12th and Sun 13th November. Cost is £85 for one day or £150 for both.

We're planning on waiting nearer the time to check the weather and then book accordingly (unless both days are going to be washed out! Sad

Hmmm, may be tempted nearer the time if weather looks ok. The national circuit is very bleak though, nothing like the full GP track...

The best bits of Silverstone for me are the Maggots / Beckets complex - the whole left-right-left-right-left sequence and how you have to move around on the bike to take it at speed - and from entering Farm down into and through Bridge - flat out through the high speed left hander then braking under the bridge and throwing it right. Magic! Cool

On the national circuit Woodcote is taken at much higher speed so the grip issues with the formula 1 grid markings are made worse (and again even more so in the wet) and braking/turnin for Copse is also faster so the bumps there cause more problems. Think of it as highside-city followed by lowside-ville Wink

You got me thinking about the layout now, so I did some Googling:

"The motorcycle version of the Silverstone National circuit is 90 per cent of the usual car circuit but cuts short before Luffield into a tighter, almost hairpin, right. You then have a very short straight before the controversial left/right chicane.

Controversial because it's so tight that you actually turn back on yourself before firing out just before the traditional Woodcote corner and the start/finish line."

I've still not made up my mind yet. I'm a bit skint at the mo - but I may possibly be thinking sod the money! If I'm not doing it, I may still pop along with the camera anyway. When's the latest we can book? Is it something which we can book on the day if there's places left?
