Possibly uninteresting for a lot of you but I wanted to share the joy Thumbs Up
As I am living on my own, paying my own way I find it difficult to maintain and keep up with the bikes needs sometimes.
I have been saving a little here and there for a service, unfortunately though due to several events going on I have had to do the work little by little. I got the VFR in March, the bike, it seemed was owned by someone who liked to clean it, but had no idea at some point the bike needs some new bits. Rolling Eyes
I had the carbs cleaned out, seemed I had this problem that other VFR owners were having that owned with a rev problem between 4.5 and 5.5k RPM, I have gone through the steps to resolve it, the carbs were the first thing to be looked at as the bike had been stood for a few weeks (unleaded shelf life).
Cutting a long story short I still had the rev problem but generally the bike was ok, I had the oil filter, oil changed, air filter and secondary filter, the plugs changed, carbs balanced, valve check and shim’s replaced and some rear pads.
The bike (as seen in workshop thread) sounded like it was firing on 2 after the work, it was, I thought it had to be electrical, it wasn’t, after a lot of fault finding I was stumped. I got the mechanics to have a look, they took apart the petrol tap and diaphragm assembly. It was blocked by crap, the flushed it, and put it back on.
The bike runs like never before, clean, sharp rev’s no power loss, all 4 firing.
Defiantly worth being skint. Thumbs Up

Congrats on getting it all sorted! Not nice when your bike isn't running right and you have no idea how to fix it. Nice one! Thumbs Up

Although, no need for the blasphemy... 400's aren't that fast Razz

(neither are 600's before you think that that's what I was saying)

It’s a possibility Siggi mate, give it ago, it doesn’t take 10 minutes really.
A lot of people seem to have this problem with the NC30, I thought it was going to cost me.

Cool, glad you got it sorted.

Fuel tap diaphram, mine seems to have gone missing Wink

Wait 'til you get around to putting a pukka system on, or getting a better CDi.

Hope you enjoy your new bike Thumbs Up

I swear this was one of the first things someone recommended you to check, all those months ago. I thought you had already done it...

O well at least it's running ok now. Laughing

If you are going to park your bike up for a long time make sure the tank is brim-full of petrol. Then add some fuel stabaliser to it, run it through the carbs by opening the drain screw for a few seconds.

You can get fuel stabaliser from boat shops as many boats are left overwinter.
