I did my first track day at rockingham national circuit yesterday ! and apart from spending the first two sessions thinking that I was going to die and wishing I was somewhere else Laughing it was absolutely fantastic Thumbs Up I was by far the slowest person on the track Crying or Very sad even a guy with one arm kicked my arse Laughing but he was very impressive, a guy with one arm going up the inside with his knee down Thumbs Up

I did ask an instructor to come out and see if he could give me some tips and he just said to carry on with how I was going I just needed to gain confidence.

By the end of the day I think I was getting faster Confused I did keep up with one guy but if i'm really ho9nest I think thats only 'cause he was tiered and wasnt really trying Laughing

I wont get my photo's for a couple of weeks but I will post them when I get them.

Thumbs Up

Don't sweat it, I was easily the slowest person out there on my first trackday - I'm not amazingly quick now but I can quite happily hold my own and there are now plenty folk slower than me. Tis all about improving your own riding and sod what everyone else is up to.

After all, how many of the folk who are quick straight away get the satisfaction of improving their times by 30 seconds a lap. Laughing

Nice one.

I used to think I was reasonably quick, and then I had a rude awakening when I had my first trackday! Laughing I've done a few now, and the improvement in my riding is immense; you learn so much more about what you can do with your bike (although the first one was just about getting to grips with the whole idea for me).

Being slowest on your first trackday isn't a bad thing, the worst thing is if you're not slowest and that's because you're riding outside of your comfort/skill zone.

I wasn't the slowest on my first trackday, but I think there were some very timid people out there.

It's all about learning, and progression, stick at it, and book your next one!

I was the typical first timer. I was quick around the bends and on the straights, I had the odd nervous moments and found it to be a problem to overte people, partly because on the exit to most corners the cbr6RR failed to hold its own agaisnt R1's GSXR's etc, then when I hit the corners I would catch up.

Never had the im gonna die feeling, but on overtakes entering corners I had some hassle as I didnt want to stitch anyone up and cause a crash! Felt completely at home and I enjoyed the fact I was keeping up with our 33bhp man and our 15bhp(??) MZ rider.

Cant wait till all me bones and me brain is healed so I can do another track day!

Pah, you were lucky to keep up with the 15bhp MZ rider!

Although I clearly wasn't trying hard enough, only /almost/ highsided it, and didn't ground anything out.

Although I did come round a few corners to see you stopped on the grass thinking "wtf am I doing here?!".
