Is the bike you are currently riding where you thought you would end up in the biking world ?

I ride a Yammy FZR600 now, and it is far, far better than what I first thought I would be able to manage as a fresh-faced bikey virgin of 30 Laughing Wink

The first ever bike shop I went to, the blokey looked me up and down (I was in my skirt and flip flops as it was Summer), and muttered "For you love...a Jog 50cc.. that will nip you around town for shopping quick enough" Shocked Rolling Eyes
I left the shop, but I thought..well, is that bike all I could ever manage..surely these people know what they are talking about.
My Fiance talked me out of it Very Happy Thumbs Up
I then bought a brand new 04 CG125, and never looked back... Thumbs Up

Sometimes, I think the advice these shops give us is way off the mark. Some are way too pushy, and if OH wasn't with me, I just may have bought that Jog for 3K or whatever stupid price it was for a 50cc !!

A work colleague of mine has a ped. He is 18..wants more, but simply cannot afford it.
A girl I know has a 125, has been riding it for 2 years, and feels she cannot handle anything bigger. But she is happy with that.

Are you where you want to be ?
I think I will stick here a while. My other half has a Firestorm 1000, I could never see myself on that! But,..who knows Wink

Realistically, I can't ask for any more of my bike. I love it's looks, the way it rides, it does (a verified) 171mph and I have no complaints about it...

...except...

...I am considering something different. Not bigger, or more powerful, but different. Something a bit more lunatic and a bit less "165mph officer? Are you sure? Please don't send me to prison!" Yes, something big on adrenaline, big on thrills, but something that doesn't need to be going warp-speed to achieve them. The answer? I'm considering the KTM Superduke Cool

I put 'in a year or so' but to be honest I'm ready now. I have a CBR600FX and its pretty quick but Ive caught myself hitting the limiter a few times and being a bit dissapointed. I wanted to get myself an Aprilia RSV mille for my 24th birthday this year but since some dozey cow ran me over then lied about it my insurance is screwed and my no claims is gone so I can't Crying or Very sad

Im not an awesome rider by any means, don't get me wrong, but we have many many many fast roads round here and theres plenty of sprints to be had on the way home from work! Wink

I am a very, how shall I say, 'flitty' person.
I find it hard being tied down to just one thing.
I do adore the white cocky FZR, and I don't think I could bear to lose her..so I may just have to add a third wheeled baby to the family Thumbs Up

Villers.. that is a DAMN shame Crying or Very sad
Maybe you will win the lottery this weekend ? If you don't and I do..I will give you 10k Wink

I have wanted to own a 125LC for a few years now. I now own one and restored it, but this is just the beginning of my biking career. By 21 I aim to either own a TL1000S or a CBR1000RR.

I went for the Bandit since it's a good First Big Bike (tm) and it does everything I want it to do, i.e. a bit of everything. That's good seeing as it's my only transport, but in the distant future when I can also afford to run a car maybe I'll go for something less practical but more... stimulating Very Happy

For what i want out of a bike its got nearly everything

Its 240kg, 50bhp tank, i remember getitng my first cx and feeling seriously overwhelmed, its a hell of allot of bike to be muscleing about after a year on a cg! (90kg slight difference)

If i had the money i'd spend it improveing the handleing and frame (bit squirmy), or maybe getting the larger 650cc version then tarting that up..

I'd be looking for another cx-e if i lost it for any reason.

Yep, thing is they are on comission, and might get more margin for whatever they are trying to offload at the time, also they will quite happly sell you a wreck for top £ with a smile.

They look cool, but for me, not meant to be ridden.

One of the reasons i choose the ninja as it seems that it is physically a lot bigger bike (older model) than most other 600/750 sports bikes, as i'm 6 ft 3 then it suits me and is nice and spacious! Thumbs Up

Tweety's plenty fast enough for me, although I only really got that "eek! it's a rocketship!" feeling the first time I rode it. I'm a real sissy of a rider so even a Bandit can do loads more than I'm capable of - an upgrade from here would purely be for showing off purposes Wink

The Bandit couldnt be father away from what I want, even if it tried. Sure its a decent bike, but theres no real power delivery or "fun" to it.

On the bright side, its a decent commuter. Laughing

I was hoping to keep it until my 33bhp restriction is over, but I dont think I'd manage 2 years on it, already bored of it after 7ish months. Will wait til next year then sell it on after i get a 2nd year NCB then go for something with more character, like a Gixxer6 perhaps. My father has promised my his fireblade once my 33bhp restriction is over, so at least I have that to look forward to. Ideally, I'd love an RSV Mille, so thats one for the future me thinks. Drooling

On the other hand, my RS125 is a fantastic bike. Light as a feather and has a beautiful power delivery. Dont plan to get rid of this for a while yet. Liked my old one so much, I had to buy another. Mr. Green

I personalised the bike, and so what..she is mine Wink
I have a spoilt bitch club sticker on each fairing (only small..not IYF)..
also have a Tinkerbell dangler on the screen.
A girlie bike..but with a raw manly growl upon acceleration Twisted Evil Very Happy Wink

I am running a 500 twin. There is a reason, I am not to be trusted. If I get anything bigger I will loose my licence. I am going to make this bike into something that does everything I need to do with regard to touring comfort, luggage capacity and backroad handling. What I don't need is more power.

A mate of mine offered me a go on his Harris everything GSXR1100 and I have recently been offered rides on an R1 and an MV agusta. I have declined on each occasion because I know if I ride one, I will buy one. If I buy one, I will be cauight by a camera van doing 150mph, loose my licence, my job and probably spend some time inside into the bargain.

I can see me with a BMW1200GS in a few years time, once I have somewhere I am confident it will not be stolen.

Stink..a man after my own heart !!
AND you work in Cumbria..my old home area
*swoon*
Wink

On my recent *spit* car driving lesson, the instructor asked me what the speed limit was (I was doing bout 50).
I said, no idea. 30.
Oh Rolling Eyes
He asked me if I stuck to limits on my bike..well, yes..sort of.
50 in a 30, 60 in a 40.
Sorry Embarassed
NOT proud !!
I too find it difficult to control myself.

I have a fast, addictive personality.

Cumbria bad for nicking then ?
Yes, from what I know.
I used to be Barrow.

Couldn't agree more. It's funny how bikes often end up reflecting their owners in 'personality'. That in mind...

Don't do a lot of riding in the lakes to be honest, too many tourists. I like to go up North whenever I can.

The way I see it, I can be spanking the arse off my 500 and at the speeds I reach, I will have enough time to spot a speed trap and slow down. Maybe not enough to be under the limit, but enough that I am only going to get points, not a ban. At the speeds I know I would do on a superbike, slowing down once you spot the danger is going to be too late.
