Thats me just back from the hospital. Wasn't looking forward to going to work in the pissing rain and wind. I was about 2 miles from home, took a round-about and onto the dual carriageway.

It goes slighty to the left so when I was accelretating the rear wheel spun up too quick and too far for me to do anything. All I remember is being fired into the air and hurting when I landed. Seemed to slide and bounce forever. Somehow went from the road to the grass verge and started sliding towards 2 poles, god knows how I missed them as I was inches away.

Instant pain in my left foot, right arm and right hip. I took my helmet off straight away, I was in pain and paniced. Broken bone in my foot but everywhere else just really hurts alot!

Helmet is fcuked, jacket not too bad, leathers trousers usable again, boots just some more scuffs but my bag ripped apart.

Can't thank the folk that stopped enough. The guy who was in front of me stays local and got the bike picked up by his brother who is a local farmer. I have no idea what the damage is but expecting the worst.

In a lot of pain right now, just wish my car was fixed and this wouldn't have happened today, time for some pain killers and beer me thinks!

Unlucky mate, but at least you're (pretty much) in one piece. Thumbs Up

When will you get to see the bike?

Yeah, the things you do to get off work. I was out my bed about 10 mins so was probably tired and just never shut the throttle off quick enough.

It was a ZX6R, this is my second after I smashed my first in March Embarassed

Just going to phone the guy who got the bike picked up, I owe in a huge favour or a few beers! I just hope its not more bad news. Really struggling to move about. My right foot is fine but if I put weight on it my hip is sore and my leg folds.

Thats 1 highside and 1 lowside...I know which I prefer.....

Um...........no.

Also my can is no doubt managled. Its about 6 weeks old, same thing happened to my last bike, 6 week old can and I smash it.

Guy said he never got a great look at the bike but its scrapped all done the R/S, missing an indicator. Nothing else snapped off I hope, not leaking any fluids but I'll get a look at it later. Not getting my hopes up as I'm sure its probably worse that described.

The seems to have been a few of these high sides in the forum recently. I guess its the damp patchiness on the roads.

Shutting the throttle is one of the most common causes of highsides when the back wheel has spun up and stepped out. Ideally you want the bike back in line before you gain grip again, and so keeping the throttle open is often a safer course of action.

Sorry to hear of your spill though. I hope you get everything healed/fixed/replaced quickly. Thumbs Up

Sorry to hear about the off mate, it was trecherous around Glasgow this morning with some of the heaviest rain I've ever been on the bike in.

Broken bones heal much quicker (and stronger) than soft tissue damage so you should recover without any lasting damage. You're going to hurt a lot tomorrow though, don't envy you one bit. Hot bath if you can keep your plaster out of the water should help with the other aches & pains.

Hope the damage isn't too bad. If it is, a mate of mine is selling his ZX6R (I'm 90% sure it's a ZX6R, it's green and looks like yours) in the next month or so. Give me a shout if you want to get in touch with him.

Shit colin, sorry to hear about this!!!

I was just thinking to myself if you were out and about on the bike today as I took the sv up to glasgow for Uni. The weather could have been better, couldn't it and there were plenty of selfish bastards on the road upto the kingston bridge today, trying to block me off left, right and centre. Sad. I was taking it extra carefully around roundabouts (less so on the straights Embarassed ) and could feel the steering damper was doing it's best to keep the bike pointing in the right direction. Although I have no idea why it would do that, would have thought it would just slid away from me.

Anyways....if you need me to look up some spares or what not, let me know. Smile

yea, we could sit outside his house and rev the bikes, maybe a burnout or 2 and to finish it off we could all go for a run down his favourite stretch of road and tell him how good it was when we return
