I passed my bike test first time (6 years ago mind), no direct access, no training. Just rode around for 2 months after passing my CBT and when I passed my theory, I just thought, what the heck; why not give it a go. Passed with 3 minors.

Didn't cost me too much to bribe the examiner either Wink

I passed mine 1st time last week,

I've never drove a car/geared bike i didn't have a clue how to ride one spent all day stalling then on the 3rd day it was all natural i know exactly where the biting point was & i even got on another bike & pulled away right away, I could ride the bike fine but now i had to take all this with the lifesavers & u-turns.

My instructer was funny yet strict which was good in a way. After the 5th day he said i need 1 more day which i was upset about as i thought i could pass but on that extra day i learned loads that i didn't know. Smile

Ye as long as you keep an eye on lifesavers, indicators and hazards and road position. Riding the bike is the easy/funpart.
Good luck Thumbs Up

I had 3 half days of training after doing my cbt and passed first time with no minors (dunno how). I thought the test was a piece of piss to be honest, i was nervous but the examiner didnt seem strict like they were on my car test (failed 1st time 5 yrs ago).
A weeks instensive should be more than enough for you if you ride already, its just remembering life savers and doing the u-turns that they want to see. And remember, when doing your training theres always a bad lesson. I had one where i couldnt do a u turn for toffee, despite it being one my better manovures lol. Good luck. Very Happy

I passed my car test first time 10 years ago. I passed my bike test first time 4 months ago via direct access. Before the two days direct access training, I had only gone up and down the road a couple of times on my dad's bike. I would say that the bike test was easier - but I have had over 10 years road experience in a car, so that's probably why.

Passed my car test first time (1993) and my bike also first time (1999). I had never sat on a bike in my life before but just did a 5 day DAS (CBT inc) and off I went! Very Happy

Don't worry you'll be fine, best of luck! Smile

About £400+ inc test, Cbt & Bike hire etc. They state if you have no expierence you should take the 5 day asd even if they can teach you how to ride you have to fit it all in with the checks & u-turns whilst doing the checks & it will work out cheaper if you do need more lessons, My test center isn't dvla so booking time is a few days like most bike centres i think.

+ 1 lesson would be about £100 inc there bike so it does work out dear Smile

With a weeks intensive course, you will be fine. After 3 months of riding on L plates I took my test after 1 days training and past first time. I had a very scary examiner, he didn't even say hello! The only thing that will let you down is nerves.

Here's a brilliant link to what instructors and examiners want and expect from us. Gives great insight.

My mate passed his test first time and his riding is appauling (well it's not that bad, but I wouldn't trust him with my bike).

He gave me a lift to my grans so I could pick up my bike one time, and his downshifts are terrible, he doesn't blip the throttle. Just kicks it down and lets the clutch out Thumbs Down.

I passed car test and bike test recently. I found bike test easier as I ride a bike all the time and traffic is easier on a bike.

On my car test they made me do a turn in the road on a narrow road on a hill !

I passed my bike test first time, but that was WAAAAYYYYY back in 1981, before the days of the CBT etc. This was when you just rode off on your own around the block and the examiner stood on the corner! I took my car test the following year and again passed first time and I'm sure that already having road sense from riding a bike had a lot to do with it.

I passed mine first time last November.

I was annoyed at myself because I'd been putting it off for so long. Just done a few hours of training with a local school, council funded with volunteers so it was easy on the wallet. The test itself was in monsoon conditions, couldnt of been worse if it tried, but we went on regardless. At first I thought I'd made a big mistake overtaking a bus (which then pulled out on me) but we carried on. This made me ride a little less nervous as I thought I'd screwed it up, a "dont care" kind of approach, so it probably made my riding better.

The test itself isnt hard at all, but its also easy to make daft mistakes that'll end up going against you. Just need to get some training done to get your riding spot on and the test out of the way. Thumbs Up

Its all about common sense and being aware of the road situations. I did a damn good first test but then right at the end made a really stupid mistake ( not dangerous in the slightest IMO) but none-the-less stupid and test failure worthy. Then my second attempt i thought was crap and i passed Thumbs Up

I passed my car test in... Oooh, was it that long ago ? Nineteen Seventy Something.

Passed my bike test... Eventually.

A few Months ago, actually... On my second attempt.

There's no shame in failing. Just makes you more determined to pass the next time, or, the next time after that.

You'll do it in time.

I passed mine today, third time lucky. I really really should have passed on both of the previous occasions, I just made some really stupid basic errors, things which I never normally had a problem with, other than the U-turn. Perseverance is the name of the game. Deep pockets help too. Confused

Don't most of us (including me) always fail for what we KNOW were stupid, basic errors. Which all of us would never normally think we'd fail on ?

Me?

I failed first time because I didn't cancel my indicator between a right hand and immediate left hand turn.

Hands up. My fault. But I learned. And I didn't make the same mistake again. Passed second time.
