Hi,

Right, I remember a thread a couple of weeks ago talking about tyres going 'off'.

People were talking about tyres going a blue colour near the edge?

Well, my brand new(ish - done less than 1000 miles) has developed this blue band round the tyre. It's a Dunlop 220. Fitted from a very respectable motorbike tyre specialist.

Only noticed yesterday - not ridden the bike for a week or so. Could this result from the bike sitting for a while? Not exactly long Confused

My ER-5 sat practically all last winter for 3 months when I injured my hand, and this blue phenomenon never occured then.

So, is the tyre fucked or what?

Advice appreciated.

It may be the residue of the waxy crap they have on new tyres to stop em going off in the warehouse I guess?

Something to do with heat in the tyre causing compounds in the rubber the leach out.
Not a worry I think.

That because I've been pushing it hard or what then? The rubber looks kinda 'blistery' towards the edges of the tyre Confused

Would've thought you'd be able to get a road tyre that hot Laughing
