Hi peep first poster here with a tech question. Some thing on my kick start is loose and it swings out constantly, is there a way of fixing this or do I need a new kick start and how much would this cost including fitting? I am thinking of selling my 125 soon but am unsure how much to ask for? It's in good condition and it a M plate with 19000 miles on the clock, what should I ask for? Cheers for any help and sorry for being a bit random with both questions.

Thanks

You might be able to fix the kickstart. On the bit of the kickstart that's attached to the bike there's a hole drilled, into which Mr. Honda has put a small spring and a ballbearing. Against the force of the spring the ballbearing pushes against the swingy bit of the kickstart, and clicks into two detents, holding it either in the open position or the closed position. What's happened is either the spring is not as clever as it used to be, or the metal between the two detents has worn away. It's probably a question of dismantling the kickstart, stretching or replacing the spring, maybe putting a blob of weld on the kickstart and re-profiling the detents. Or just buy a new one.

Kickstart about 25-50 quid, 10 mins to fit - so another 50 quid at a dealer.

The bikes probably worth what someone will pay for it!

fin.
