I've just read this about K&N filters:
Quote:
The oil that is held in suspension by the cotton gauze material acts to stop even the smallest dirt particles from entering your engine. As dirt build s up on the outside of a K&N filter, it acts as part of the filter media further extending the filter's service life.

How true is this, or is it sales BS?

Sounds like bullshit to me, but they do have a point I reckon. Still won't extend the life of it though I reckon.

Hi

Tend to take it as BS. Might well filter out more rubbish but only by becoming more restrictive.

Easy to filter out all the rubbish, just stop the air getting through.

All the best

Keith

Ive heard that K&N's have excellent air flow properties, but they dont filter anywhere near as well as most paper or sponge filters, so yes they let more air in, but along with more dirt too! At least you can wash and clean them, every time they get dirty, so overall id still use them!
