Am still lovin the VMAX but am really worried about the way I'm using the gears.... I just seem to want to stayin 2nd gear allthe time in town... gives me plenty of acceleration and braking all from my right wrist!!! what damage am I doing to the bike?

on the by-pass and longer roads I use 3rd and 4th as normal...but in town its just soo much fun staying in 2nd...in fact I'm even tempted to stay in 1st but the roar of the engine stops me....

any advice???

You stay in 5th (or 6th) when you're on the motorway don't you? I shouldn't have thought you'd be causing any damage.

Change up at the redline, change down if in the gear below you won't be above the redline.

Yes, your bike will wear a bit quicker, but then (most) buy a bike for fun rather than a mantle piece Smile.

FWIW a fault on the VMax appear to be a failure to hold 2nd gear. Suspect excessive use of the accelerator and then changing up could be cause of this.

However, for pottering about town, given the characteristics of the bike, you should be fine. Just bear in mind might be an idea to short shift (i.e. don't rev too high in 2nd) into 3rd.

HTH Thumbs Up
