Hi all,

I have come to the conclusion that I want/need to upgrade the brakes on my r6. The main reason being is that I think they feel less powerful than the ones on my nsr. I think they should be far scarier than they are, because at present they feel quite spongey.

At the moment, I think I'm going to upgrade to goodrich braided hoses, but am unsure on what pads to go for. I also don't know what sort of brake fluid I should get.

Any help/tips appreciated.

Cheers

Craig G(Noggin)

P.S. soon my new undertray will be on, when I get the n/plate bracket, so r6 will look better!

I've always found the R6's brakes (theres less than 30-40mm travel in the lever) to be more than adequate on the road.

Have you thought about bleeding the brake fluid?, then making sure their set up correctly?

I probably should bleed them I guess, but the fluids really old, I think its original so I thought I should replace it. And thought it would be worth doing the whole lot while I was at it.

Do you think I should do the upgrade in stages, as to what I need then?

Would make more sense!

Stop me doing it before I waste my money on ebay!!

It's worth doing the brake lines, especially if your intending to get some track days in. Can't recommend any pads though, as I'm still on the set that came with the bike.

Ok, that sounds cool. I will do the brake lines and the new fluid, and then bleed if required. If I want more poke, then I will change the pads.

Cheers davo!

I ran R6/R1/Thundercat/Ace calipers on myFJ1200 with braided hoses amd nice sintered pads.

Now the FJ1200 is much bigger and heavier, and they had no trouble at all stopping it.

Get it bled, nice fresh pads and braided lines!
