Hi

I know there's been small-talk about this before, but I never really understood what caused the problem.
I have an NSR125 2001 French import, and the temperature gauge doesn't seem to go higher than just a little bit past the blue part. I've had it about 1/3 of the way into the white before, driving slow in low gears on a hot day, and when the ignition is off, the gauge is at lowest, so I know that the gauge isn't broken.
But what could the problem be?? It doesn't seem to go above the blue/white border, only when it's really hot outside.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

ISTR that it's liquid cooled in which case it sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. The job of the thermostat is to allow coolant to flow through the radiator once the bike is hot enough, it effectively regulated the bike temperature. If it sticks open, the bike never gets up to temperature.

One sure way to tell is if your fuel economy is bad.

Cheers

Grim

Yes, I guess it isn't a problem, the fuel economy is not bad at all either and the engine seems to be at an ideal temperature after about 5-10 minutes. I was just worried that something was really wrong, but I will check the thermostat!

Thanks for the help alains and grim reaper!

This is common of the NSR. The temp gauge doesn't move much.

As long as it comes out the blue part then it's working and all is well.

Highest mine saw was about a 1/3 of the way.

Nothing to worry about Thumbs Up Smile

That's good to hear, because I checked the thermostat and nothing was wrong down there! I guess I shouldn't worry about it anymore then! Laughing

Thanks for your help!
