I have matey, looking for more in detail about how to actually RIDE the track. I've got a fair idea what prep myself and the bike will need. I just wanted some tips so I don't do anything to silly as I understand Cadwells not the most forgiving track in the world. |

Bendy's Woefully Unskilled But Well-Meaning Guide:
You're spat out of the holding area straight into Hall Bends. It's a left-right-left that I always get completely wrong and either do too slowly or start too quickly so the first one is the second is and the third is . Then on the brakes for the hairpin - don't fuck this one up cos there's bugger all run off.
On the power down the little straight bit, into Barn. You can take Barn faster than you think you can, but suss out the funny camber first or you'll find various bits of bike scraping along the ground. One to build up to through the day.
Out of barn, get on the power and leg it along start-finish straight and into Coppice. Lots of people brake far too hard and too early for this one (even by my standards!) - it's not as tight as it might look when you're approaching it and it's uphill as well.
Up the hill, sort out what gear you're in and adjust your arse for the long Charlies righthander. It's really Charlies 1 and Charlies 2 as it isn't a constant corner, it has a little change in the middle. Always a good spot to get round the outside of people.
On the power again and cain it down Park Straight. It's straight but it's not level, you're going downhill, hitting a big *blump* where you'll smack your chin on the tank if you're not ready for your entire bike to compress, them powering up what is actually a fair old hill, though you don't really realise it at the time. On the brakes into Park, sometimes there are marker boards, sometimes there aren't. Sort your arse out again cos there's a long ol' right hander to follow.
Chris Curve (or curves, really) - I'm sure there's a proper line but I'm usually all over the shop trying to get past people. Watch for the tarmac repair, try and go one side of it rather than straight over. Lob the bike into the right/left of the Gooseneck (my fave corner) and go piling down the hill into Mansfield. Another 'can probably take faster than you think' corner, but people do seem to lose it on the exit quite often so be careful.
There's a dappy little chicane now, so just as you're coming out of Mansfield going 'ooh yeah' you have to haul the brakes on and potter through this cacky little right/left.
Nuther little straight and then left/right (which seems quite narrow) and uuuuup the mountain. Hoik a wheelie for the camera but don't get too carried away cos you're back where you started and Hall Bends are coming up fast... |
