Hi everybody.

I had a puncture yesterday. Rear tyre needed replacing.
Taken it today to Honda dealer for repair/replacement.

I've noticed they put new Trailwing TW42 130/80/17.
(Can not confirm/remember what model was the blown tyre.)

In the spec sheet says it should be TW54 (Rear).

TW42 (Rear) is different thread than a front tyre (TW53).

Should I be bothered?
Or to complain to the dealer and ask them to fit the tyre as per Honda original spec.

Cheers.

Varadero XL125, 2004, (commuting/road use)

Won't matter on one of those to be honest mate. Also a lot of people swap and change between fronts and rears. They know what they're doing, they wouldn't have fitted it unless they were sure it was okay.

The one you have fitted is a slightly more 'blocky' pattern than the TW54. It will give better performance on loose surfaces. Should still be compatable with your front which is the main thing.

On a bigger bike, you would have to be a tad more carefull on wet roads, shouldn't make any real difference on a 125.

I have similar tyres on my KLE500 and they are pretty good.
