if a speedo needle at 50mph bounces 10mph either side and gets worse the faster you go, is it easily fixed ?

so instead of reading a steady 50mph, one second it reads 30, the next second it reads 60mph

Generally if its a cable feed then the inner is sticking, if its electronic then the pickups need cleaning

My speedo needle got bouncy shortly before the cable snapped(though probably 1000miles after I first noticed the bounciness).

Though if it's bouncing when travelling at a constant speed, rather than when accelerating/decellerating, this perhaps isn't the problem.

Mine bounces, though it happens mostly on rough roads. On a nice new, smooth surface it isn't very noticeable. One second you're doing 50, the next you hit a bump and are doing 120.. Laughing

I replaced the cable for no improvement, so I'm wondering whether it's primarily the speedo itself. The needle wobbles with the vibration of the engine at idle. Smile It has done it for the past 6000 miles, so I don't think it's the cable about to snap really. (Not in my case anyway.)
