First night out last night after passing her test, Fallen Angel has been knocked off. I think th Scottish people probably already know about this, but for the rest of you this is the latest report from a friend who has been to see her this morning.

LOTL wrote:
"Fran has had her right wrist and fore arm shattered, this will need lots of wire and pinning and external scaffolding. Her right shoulder is also broken in two places. Her pelvis has got two breaks and her left knee is also shattered. There are no ligaments attached on her knee and it may well require scaffolding as well. She's being taken for MRI scans today to assess the full extent of the damage and so the consultant (Mr Leach - very nice guy and a very good surgeon) can start to work out how to put the bits back together.

As for Fran herself, she's very cheerful. Morphine helps, but her head is pretty composed, considering. Her recovery time will be at least 6 months. I know lots of you have called but only been able to talk to a nurse, but the calls are very welcome and are passed on and every one makes her feel better. One of us here will print out any messages posted and take them to her tonight

As for what happened, a guy pulled out of a gas station right across the road and straight into her. "Sorry, I didn't see you.." Wanker. Eddie was also hurt, he skidded and laid the bike down being behind Fran. He's got a broken wrist and a lot of worry. But they'll both be fine, although not for some time."

Crying or Very sad

She is on Level 8 Orthopaedic at the Western Infirmary.

Suggest anyone who wishes to send anything pms TheShmoo or Banditshigh, or possibly me as I will be trying to get up to Scotland this weekend.

Nasty. Thats got to be a confidence knocker. She sound busted up pretty bad. Sad

Maybe i shouldn't say this because it might have been something that none of us could have avoided, but with an accident so soon i can't help thinking that maybe she wasn't ready for the road.

She had a reasonable amount of experience as a learner. There are some accidents that pretty much cannot be avoided. Seems Eddie got caught out as well, despite more experience and being in a following position and so having more space / time to react.

All the best

A car pulled out stright in front of her, on soaking wet roads in poor visibility. Not much you can do in that situation is there?

Don't think anyone would have been able to avoid this if a car pulled out infront of any biker last night up here, the amount of rain and standing water made riding difficult to begin with.

The guy drove his car straight into her, I don't think there is anything anyone could have done about that. Totally his fault. I believe he hit her side-on. Will confirm when full details are known.

I have opened a thread in the Scottish forum where you can post messages to Fran & Eddie and a member of the forum will be printing them out and taking them to Fran in hospital.

She's obviously in tremendous amounts of pain, but knowing we are all thinking of her might help, even a little. Least give her something to take her mind of it.

Join the forum now and I'll grant access soon as I can Thumbs Up
