Two Stroke Oil Spec...

Can anyone let me have the spec for the two stroke oil for my nsr125r....

You have to use whatever has been put in your bike in the past.

Any fully synth 2 stroke oil will be fine, and any semi synth 2 stroke oil will work okay too. The problem comes when you re fill because you are not supposed to mix types of oil at all.

Personally I would say run the bike until the oil tank is almost empty, then fill up with a good quality fully synthetic 2-stroke oil.

It doesn't really matter about mixing them TBH. Its best to pick one and stick to it, but thats about it. Go for something fully synth.

Hi,

I found on my 2 stroke that the oil mattered a massive amount to the performance of the bike. This was really noticable when at top-out revs and made a difference of 10mph+. Ones to avoid (despite supposidly being the same) are Texaco and other economy ones. I found Castrol TT brand the best by far.

I started off using fully synthetic £10/l Castrol TTS but was later advised to not bother with that and went onto semiu synthetic £6/l Silkolene Comp2 Injector. And i noticed no difference whatsoever. Apart from the facy that the s/s is cheaper.

The problems can come later on, though whether this is likely to be so much of an issue for an NSR as opposed to say a tuned 250 2 stroke is another matter.

I view my 2 strokes like the females of our species.
Fill them with cheap nasty plonk and they will become unhappy and they will not hang around for long, fill them with the best possible and they will be happy and around for longer.

On a more serious note, my old Tzr 250 used to knacker the top end at about 9thousand miles on semi synthetic, but on fully synthetic she used to run till 12thousand miles before a rebuild and smell rather sexy at the same time.

Should try not to mix the brands. They are like different brands of beer, they are all beer and do the same job, but they don't go well when mixed.

Find one you can get locally on a regular basis and stick to it.

I have heard that mixing them is bad but im running on semi synthetic seems to be ok but I have got my local garage to order me in some fully synthecit oil. I get told all the time "The secret to help the life span of a 2 stroke engine is to put good fully synthetic oil into it"
