Hi all,
I have a question about helmets.
When I am riding along, and I get to about 70- 80mph, my helmet feels like it is lifting up slightly on my head. Is this normal, or is my helmet the wrong size. Question
For info, I am riding a Kawasaki ER-5 with no screen or other fairing.

Thanks

Your helmet doesn't quite fit right, or your chin strap isn't tight enough.

Used to happen to me with my old Lazer that didn't fit right, has never happened with any of my lids that do fit properly.

You need to REALLY tighten that chin strap, even if its uncomfortable at first. When i didnt do it on the back of the blade i discovered that the bit underneath the visor tastes like...well....plastic!

I find wearing my paisley bandana across my noes/mouth and tied from behind makes doing the chinstrap up tighter over it more comfortable (doesn't catch on my chin either).

I did go to a shop and bought it about 3 weeks ago. They said it was a good fit then. Confused
I have only just passed my test this week, so have just started wearing it.
I will tighten up the chin strap a bit and see if that helps.

Thanks for all the replies.

My lid does this as well and it's disconcerting when the chin padding starts pressing into your lips... Smile.

Tighten up that chinstrap. I make sure mine is "Chokingly snug" Then slip a finger under it and wiggle it to loosen slightly. Seems to work for me... Smile

You want to be able to slip a finger under the strap, but no more, when the helmet is adjusted properly.

Mystery solved !
The day I had the problem with the helmet moving, was the day that I didn't wear my neck warmer- and I failed to tighten the strap to take this into account. Embarassed
Wore my neck warmer last night, went for a blast down some dual carriageways, no movement at all. Smile

Thanks for all the help. Thumbs Up
