Riding to work this morning I felt the love a little more from fellow bikers.

It seems that every bike rider nodded to me this morning - even the ones on the motorway despite their being a smaller number of bikes on the roads.

Why do you think this is? Has anyone else noticed it?

The only thing I've noticed about nods is that I get them all the time now I'm on the ZXR and the only people who NEVER nod are cruiser rider's. I'm not saying that to start anything, it's based purely on fact, not one person on a cruiser has nodded at me or even looked at me even when I've nodded at them.

As for more nods on the motorways, I dont know really as most of my work journey is A road work in and around town and hardly anyone on bikes up there pays any attention to other bikers to be honest, too busy just trying to stay alive.

Never really thought about it but I guess a 'winter' nod means a bit more than a 'summer' one.

Summer nod = "Hey, don't we look cool on our expensive weekend toy that we've just spent all morning polishing"

Winter nod = "Hi! It's so nice seeing someone else freezing their ass out here!"

Always nice to see some body else just as stupid as you. I use the same route from work everyday (for 12 months) the same riders only seem to nod at me when its raining! Most cruisuers still ignore me (sports bike rider) unless its raining.

It’s nice to see all the summer biking goons off the road causing me grief and the familiar site of the safety nazi on his ER5, the wild boy on his Ninja, the weird guy on the cruiser who thinks it’s faster than my VFR. HA
And the old boy with a faceless helmet on a C90, he is hardcore.
All of these on my commute and they all nod.
This will be my 7th winter now, I’ve heard it will be very cold.

Definitely more nods in winter than summer.

I think partly due the thinning of numbers, everyone feels more closely knit. "These are the REAL bikers" sort of feeling.

From my point of view, I'm also more grateful of the warm-glowy feeling of a nod when half-frozen in the foetal position on my bike. Warms me up, a bit..... Laughing

I will second that, there is a harley dealership in Newmarket, I often ride that way when out and there are always lots of cruisers about, they never nod ! Maybe its because if they let go of the bars they will tip over Wink

PS: I also notice that I get fewer nods when im on the dirt bike, however that could be because im so high up and they dont see me up there Laughing

froggy_girl - remember a stalker is not just for Christmas, or even a birthday Very Happy Wink

On topic I think nods will be more frequent in winter. As said above it's partly a sense of relief that you're not the only one freezing their bits off Razz Thumbs Up
