How do I get this off my Chrome cans ?
I've tried; White Spirit, Methylated Spirits, Petrol, paraffin, T-Cut, Warm, Soapy Water, FLU, Turps and just about every other chemical I've got at home. But nothing seems to shift it, apart from picking the bits off with my thumbnail or a plastic scraper, then polishing it off with T-Cut.
Anyone got a suggestion for dissolving this crap off easily before I polish the cans up ?

hein gericke do some brake cleaner stuff - it'll cut through it like hot knife through butter.
It'll dissolve cooked engine grease on contact, and is designed for road tar etc.
do NOT get it on yer paint and dont have any smokers around you, or you will be the human fireball!
Dangerous stuff!

Yeah, thats going to be tough to get off after being on the hot exhaust.
If you do get spashed of tar on your fairing, you can use butter (yes, butter) to get it off, works a treat too. |

Gunk is pretty effective stuff. It made the tarmac outside our house dissolve and go crumbly.
Mind you, the centrestands tend to do that too. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Is that Country Life, Kerrigold, Lurpak or some other Brand name? Or, will Morrison's, Asda's, Tesco's, Sainsbury's or Lidl's Best Butter suffice? Also, does it need to be English, Irish, New Zealand or another Country's butter ? Slightly salted or just plain Butter ?
Only kidding. But thanks for the tip
Mind you, I'd rather spread a bit of butter on my toast that sprinkling it with Gunk
