PostPosted: 13:47 - 16 Oct 2005    Post subject: HJC Helmets - Thoughts? Reply with quote

Hi All

The time has come for a new (and lighter) lid. The old AGV is a weighs a ton compared to modern offerings!

Has anyone got any thoughts on the HJC range - in particular the FG-14 series? What are they like for wind noise? Any problems with the visors flipping up at speed or the like?

Thanks

Key

I have a hjc with removeable integral breath guard.

Because the helmet is designed for the breath guard, it works better than trying to put a breath guard in any helmet its not designed for.

I like my HJC and the fact that you can get spare or tinted visors for them cheap off ebay as they are not an unusual helmet.

I have thought about getting a caberg helmet with flip down internal shades and because my helmet is looking a bit battered.

justissimo carbeg helmet also has flip up chin guard for those annoying petrol stations that want to see your face

I've bought 5 helmets... 2 HJC a Shark, 1 Nitro and a 'Zeus' - the Shark helmets are the worst for noise reduction pathetic (but good looking)-So it's my pillion lid... The Zeus is okay but I don't like the chin guard...same as the shark helmet.
My Kids share a Nitro helmet (XSmall) and they seem pretty much happy with it, but the HJC are the best so far. One of the HJCs I had on when i crashed my bike and it saved me skull big time. HJC are pretty good all rounders and a sensible price...would buy another...but all the other lids just seem prettier and i'm a tart so might be pursuaded to buy one for looks (oh no!). The HJCs I've had both came with the nose/fogh guard built in...big sellin point and very useful.

BTW both my HJC were/are CS12... The first I got for £40 as Infinity in Edinbgh was closing down ( Smile for me Sad for them) the second was in Edinburgh Hein Gericke...

That HJC with the cat is nice... Thumbs Up

I can recommend them to a point. I've had my HJC AC10 for the best part of 2 years. I need to get the liner replaced because it keeps gettin compacted from when i used to wear my glasses.

It's okay. Tight fitting, good ventilation but uber noisy on the motorway at anything above 70mph so be warned.

I'd definately think about getting the FG-14 or even a CL-14, but i'm going to see if a shoei will feel better. They seem to fit my head better.

HJC are bargain, well made helmets so always trust the reviews given about their lids.

BTW, is that pic of a Cat or something, because there is no way in hell that looks menacing Rolling Eyes Doh!
