hadn't ocured to me before but I don't think i've ever seen a bike with it's coresponding insurance group online or off. Is their somewhere like parkers that would tell you? Be interesting to see what insurance group my bike is out of interest.

Yes bikes do have insurance groups, with an average mid power bike like an SV650 being about group 11, most 600 IL4s around group 14, most litre sports bikes group 17 etc.
I think one of the magazines (Bike or Ride) has the information in their back section, for new bikes at least.
