My roof daytona lid was quite an expensive one, and a 21st bday present from my parents, so im kinda fond of it. however i was in a bit of a spill last year. now the lid looks fine, ive cleaned it up and there are no obvious scrapes or cracks on it. It was mostly just mud i crashed in, so no road impact from what i can remember.

is it worth the risk? I know for peace of mind i should buy a new one, but i cant really afford it. Perhaps a cheap lid in the bargin bin, but my roof was very comfy...

ive heard of companies, arai i think, who will test your lid for you.

If it took no serious impact just ignore it. The helmet makers are in favour of you changing your hat every week or so and try every scare tactic to make you buy a new one.

If it hit the deck then you would see the marks on it. If there are none I wouldn't worry as already said.

Arai will only check their own helmets (for obvious reasons). They X-ray them to look at the condition of the whole helmet.

The way helmets are designed, you may not be able to see if the impact-absorbing material has deformed as the outer shell may go back to its original shape.

However, as there are no visible marks then it's unlikely (although not impossible) that the helmet has been damaged. If you're worried, contact Roof's UK importer and ask if they're able to inspect it for you.

I'm surprised you have to ask.

Replace it, you should always replace lids after a crash and just because you crashed in mud doesn't mean the internal material hasn't been damaged.

I'm with ariel here , if its not serious don't replace it, hell my last two lids took more hits than the green zone in Baghdad , and I'm still here,

as Siggi once said at the speeds it really matters its kind of moot.

I would replace it mate. Its not worth the risk. You can get some nice helmets at decent prices if you are willing to shop around.
