Story goes.. bought a new r6 in Feb, 2 weeks later idiot in car cuts accross me and bang. Over £2000 worth of damage to the bike, all fixed now but worse is shoulder broken in 3 places.
Now coming up to 9 months later and 1 operation and god knows how many trips to the physio I still have bad pains when riding, especially on uneven roads. Which is just about everywhere in London.
I thought it might be the R6 and its riding position so I have tried a friends fazer for a while and the problems are a lot less. My solicitor reckons I could get compensation for any losses I make having to sell the bike so I think thats what |I am going to do.

Now the question is what bike. I really fancy the kawasaki Z1000, what do you guys think??

I think they're gorgeous bikes! Go for it! Just remember, whichever bike you pick, you're going to have to be sure that it wont cause any damage to your shoulder. If you explain to your dealer you need a longer test ride due to your shoulder, i'm sure they'll be more than accomodating. What about a KTM Superduke? Awesome machines! A speed triple might be good for you too. (i'm just thinking of the loopiest naked bikes i can)

Fazers aren't the comfyest either Razz

You'd be wanting something the makes you lean as little as possble on your arm, anytning upright should do the trick...

Big supermoto type bikes would be perfect, i.e. GS (bit pricey) or even better a TDM 850/900 2cylinder, 70/80bhpish, nice to ride, good fun, comfy as a very comfy thing Thumbs Up africa twin would be good too, you'll need to be tallish though...

Good luck Thumbs Up

M O P E D Razz

Or maybe a Harley Razz

Will your shoulder be able to withstand high speeds on a naked bike though. I reckon the Z1000 are quite brutal, could you still hang on?

Sorry to hear about your accident mate.

On a more light hearted note if you get a robotic arm you will still be able to ride a MV Auguta like Smithy out of I-Robot Wink

What about fitting risers and flat bars to the bike you have?

I think you have two options:

One don't ride for at least another year - allow your shoulder to regain it's strength. Think long term here.

If you must ride then stay clear of naked bikes and those that have a sporty riding position. You need an upright bike with a screen. There are plenty to choose from but since you've owned an R6 your clearly like performance and don't want a commuter/heavyweight so here's my recommendations:

Z750s (don't overlook this bike)
Fazer 1000 (2006 looks good Thumbs Up )
Aprillia Tuono

Shocked I crashed in April and pushed my arm through my shoulder neatly tearing all the muscles in the meaty (A.C.) joint of the shoulder. When I saw the consultant he thought I'd have been better off breaking the bones since they would heal stronger. Seems like he was wrong, that injury you got sounds much worse.

That was in April and I just finished pyhsio. It was hard work and I really had to push the physio work hard. It's still sore if I ride for more than half an hour or so and will ache for a few days. I think extreme3d is right about giving it a bit more time to regain the strength in your shoulder. I've got it easy with a 125 cruiser, but 2 hour DAS lessons on a 600 Diversion are hard work...a more sporty bike would be a real struggle.

Hey, you would probably be best suited to a touring bike i would have thought due to there high level of comfort. Also possibly a trails/supermoto bike as they have upright seating and have the almighty suspention in which you will not feel the bumps so much.

This is only my suggestions Thumbs Up
