I've been caught napping: I left the bike for a week and the battery is dead!

Anyone know of any good deals at the moment for battery chargers or can recommend a place (online or in the shops) that stocks decent chargers for an equally decent price?

Thanks Thumbs Up

If you want a charger why don't you have a look at this one

<a href="https://.cgi.ebay.co.uk/OPTIMATE-3-BATTERY-CHARGER-FREE-WALL-BRACKET_W0QQitemZ8009728642QQcategoryZ25643QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem">here</a>

or you could bump start it and save the money Smile

Hi

Best chance of a decent deal on a charger is at the NEC. Lots of people selling them and all trying to have a competitive price.

However, unless it has something on it draining the battery rapidly (alarm, side lights, etc) then Siggi is right that the battery is probably well past its best.

All the best

Keith

Lol i tried that one.

Had a dead battery pretty much for about 1 1/2 months lol.

Had to bump start it everywhere i went, g/f's house, college, my drive, etc... actually got the hang of it and used the electric start and pushed it to take the effort off the leccy start a bit and it went fine Smile

Gota say though, wouldnt like to go back to that now though. Smile

Thanks for the advice: I have a feeling that the battery is on it's way out, does seem to drain very quickly when not being used daily.

Thumbs Up

Get an optimate charger. They're £40 but are quite clever and can restore low charged batteries. You can also leave it permanently connected trickle charging and it won't do it any harm. Although I recommend unconnecting it before you go for a ride as the wires aren't long enough.

I've had the same problem today with my ZXR250. Left it for about 4 days and the battery run flat when i was trying to start it. Starter motor relay was clicking, i thought i flooded the carbs so i kept pressing the button. 10 seconds later, no more noise from the starter motor running, just relay noise. Ordered a trickle charger from ebay for like 10 quid, sure it aint an optimate but i need it now. Don't want to be off my bike for another 10 days!

I bought an optimate years ago, used it 3 times, can't remember the last time I ever needed it, I feel like I wasted my money. Personally I wished I never bought it.
