Would it be possible to get my bike to start without the clutch held in? Its always been like this, with the clutch held in to the bar it wont start, but held 3/4 of the way it will. The bike starts fine so i imagine its some sort of cut off switch.

Is there anyway to fix this. It doesn't particularly bother me as im used to it however if its getting sold id like it to be a1.

Cheers

Most bikes now have a safety switch on the clutch lever, so you can't start them up while it's in gear and lurch forward (I don't know why they don't make cars have them too)

If you look at the clutch lever body you'll see a couple of wires coming from it and disappearing into the wiring loom.

It's possible to short these wires together so the system thinks that the lever is in, but if it's working ok then I wouldn't bother.

Hi

As above, but depending on the actual set up it might be best to just tape the switch into one position.

On the 1200 Bandit the switch is under the lever and has a pin that goes into the lever. If you forget and do not undo the switch before taking the lever off you snap the pin off the switch. My guess is that something like this has happened to your bike. When this happened to me I just took the switch off the clutch lever taped it into one position and then taped it back to the look. No cutting required and worked for about a year until I bothered to replace it with a new switch.

All the best

Keith
