I usually use chainsaw oil - non fling and doesn't seem to gum up the links as much as the Castrol Chain Wax I used to use.

Use the wax lube as you can see where you've put it and doesn't seem to get as much crap on it like the gel type ones and clean the chain every couple of weeks

Scotoiler is worth haveing for ANY time of the year, will save allot of time and hassle, use it with chainsaw oil.

Whever you do use it needs cleaning off every few thousand miles as anything will pick up road filth, tesco sell packs of four toothbrushes for 40p, they do nicely.. been advised agains useing wd40 though, brake cleaner might be a safer bet?

I've heard that WD40 allows the rubber in the seals to expand - not a good thing I presume?

No. Although after spending an hour in the garage on my knees with a toothbrush and some parrafin, some grease on your hands atleast looks as though you've been up to something useful. Wink

Are you the sort of bloke that pisses on his hands whilst taking a leak?

What are you doing to get your hands dirty??!?!? Razz

Try profi-lube from Hein Gericke, expensive but lasts a long time, reasonably waterproof and is clear!!!!

Oh and on another note: Does anyone know where to buy gold chain wax/lube? Seen it on a thundercat the other day (no, it wasn't a gold chain Rolling Eyes ) and thought it looked better than the usual white cack you get. Thumbs Up

That's what I use. It seems to be quite good. Very little fling off it too. Thumbs Up

Me foot slipped off the center stand and i dropped the bike when i lost balance, i think it was oil off the chain from the scot-oiler i have, lesson learnt.
Only a few scratches from the drop, the bike ain't to bad either!

i dont do that many miles a year either, however i found my sv chain going a little rusty either side of the chain. Ive just bought a Scottoiler to fit and im gonna spend a few hours cleaning the top rust off the chain so that its like new.

I used to use Wurth HP oil and it was brilliant - no fling whatsoever

I use Putoline Racing Chain Lube, only reason why I use it on my hack is cos what I have left over and thats all the shop I had in when I had my GSX600F.

Most of the time though I use any old chain lube/spray grease. Smile

I use Wurth DRY chain lube because fling really pisses me off.
I have used Castrol chain wax but was not very impressed and Castrol chain lube was good but messy.
Got a tin of PJ1 but have not really used it.

I use silkoline chain lube, don't like scotoilers, they are an eyesore and they make a mess of the rear end of your bike. I tried chain wax but it shortened the life of the chain when I used it so I went back to proper lube.

PJ1 Black Label is a very good lube so I've heard.
