Do they have a place to pack your bike? Any security cameras or places to chain the bike to?
Is there places to store your helmet and kit? Does your work have an ideal place to get changed ?

We have a small lock up surrounded by strong tall metal fences, theres a security camera watching over and the security office is next to the lock up too, anyone with a bike is given a key to the padlock for the gate for a £5 deposit. You can chain your bike to the fence.

There is no place to store kit though, which is one of the reasons i;ve bought a new lid, so i can use my old one to commute in and chain up to the bike.

In our college there is two areas to leave a bike/scooter, one has a big green container over half the spaces and the other (meant to be for staff only Shifty ) been parking there usually but today theres a green Merc A class Thumbs Down over the bays

no security cameras looking over either areas and nothing to lock the bikes to Confused

no places to get changed apart from toilettes and only a few lockers which are too small Neutral

None at all. In our college, we just keep it in front of the restroom. No watchmen, nothing.

But so far, nothing bad had happened. (And, I live in India)

At college we have a nice high fenced bike shed. With a roof i might add, which is spot on for keeping your seat nice and dry Thumbs Up It has cameras placed throughout it and a numberlock on the door. Inside there are numerous bike stack things (those curved things that stick out of the ground that you chaing your bike to), which are newly cemented into the raised floor. Seems to be pretty secure to me Thumbs Up The only disadvantage is that its quite cramped with the amount of bikes there, and the ped boi's dont seem to know how to park, its a case of "Ill chuck me ped 'ere innit" and then walk off with their lids balancing halfway ontop of their heads.

Part from that its pretty spot on Thumbs Up

Work on the other hand is just a designated spot with bollards around it for parking your bike. It has a rail at the back to chain you wheel to, which is a bonus i suppose. Confused

Yes quite good where I work, there are tall locked metal gates to go through in to the yard (security come out and let you in) and then you can leave them in a massive garage undercover so they don't get wet Smile Also the whole area is covered by CCTV.

Work has a dedicated section in their underground car park for bikes + security guards and cameras keep watch 24/7.

Separate room to get changed and hang your kit, as well as shower facilities if needed.

At uni they have a bike park at each campus, but no cameras on them but it is quite safe as they have a parking attendent who walks around the car park ruining peoples day, he also keeps an eye on the bikes.

There are changing rooms with shower etc but no place to put your lid etc, so i just put my stuff in my mates car.

My college had a bike parking bay. No lockers or anything so i never really wore a jacket and just left my helmet on my seat lock.

oh yeah, work

well nothing there for bikes, and its tescos where i work! nothing for customers on anything. So i basically leave it infront of the windows in the dry roofed bit, only camera i think is round the back overflow but that is always empty and im not even sure its a real camera, it also has little lighting and cannot be seen from the shop/normal carpark.

they have a changing area before the staff toilets (goes through to the mens toilet, one before the ladies too.)

i seem to be the only one with a motorbike that works there tho Confused

I roofed bit just outside the college that is always taken up by peds - you can only fit about 10 bikes in there anyway.

Bike gets locked to shoddy metal uprights. No one watching over them or any cameras. A bit gay, really.

As far as work goes, theres bugger all. Need to take up a parking space and cant even chain it up to something solid. I expect it to go AWOL in the next few weeks Confused

At my work they are fantastic. We have covered bike sheds which are lit up at night. There is nothing to lock them too, but we are a secure site, so you need a card to get through the gates and we have secuirty guards on site 24 hours a day with cameras everywhere!

We also have a heated room to dry all wet bike gear so if it's chucking it down on our way in, we can have our stuff dry for the way home. We've area's the the office to keep things like helmets and any other stuff we want. We also have private shower rooms so we can shower when we get to work if we want too.

Best part though is the bike miles scheme! It's something we do to try and get people out of cars and onto push bikes or motorbikes.

Quote:
The Weybridge site provides a Bike Miles Scheme, where cyclists and Motorcyclists get one mile for each day they cycle/motorcycle to work. Additional miles will be given when 50, 100, 150 and 200 days are reached. When these milestones have been reached the miles can be redeemed for goods at a number of outlets. Each mile will be worth £1.

So 50 days on the bike gives you £50 of vouchers to spend in a motorbike shop. But then you get bonus vouchers as well so 50 days = £55 quid. 100 days = £115, 150 days = £180 and so on.

Gotta love my company!

When I first turned up at work on my motorbike, I didn't know what my boss would say, but he immediately allowed me to keep it in the main warehouse. Result! I always put a parking pad under the sidestand though or the floor gets marked.
I have a huge workshop to myself so I have no problems with storing my gear.
I go to college on thursday nights and so far I have gone in my car instead because there isn't much in the way of facilites, for bikers at all. However there is a couple of scooters chained to the nearest lamppost, so I might have to join them with my bike soon, especially as we get closer to christmas, as it will be a struggle to get there on time due to the worsening traffic we always get in december.

1 bog-standard parking bay with a big 'S' in it. At a squeeze you can get 6 bikes in there, but there are more than 6, most days.

College facilities are not good! well i dont go anymore but when i go meet my gf who's still there i park bike there.

Its just a bit of car park with loads of peds, and instead of parking all in a line they think its highly amusing to just stick it any bloody where. Nothing to lock yourr bike too really.

Work is worse, its either a cycle park which can fit one motorbike in and a pedalbike at best, if thats taken you have to park it outside the doors, again only room for one, and if there's a dog tied up in the space, your bike gets a nice coating of piss, or if the scallies are out it gets carling and cider poored on it etc!

Thank god only have 3 weeks left there Smile

At uni the bike parking is good, never any problems and plenty of camera and security and things to lock your bike too.

One time a lad on a pushbike had nowhere to lock his bike too as all the spaces were taken so I said "lock it too my engine bars"

No damage was done and he was gone before I came back...no problem.

Manned security barriers and steel shutters to covered car park with an allocated parking spot and CCTV trained over whole area. Lockers available and nice warm showers too. Thumbs Up

me and stu have a bike shed at work, similar to https://www.minster.eril.net/About%20Us/images/photos/Bike1.jpg but only about 2m wide. we used to be able to lock our bikes up in there but i stopped cos some folks who smoked used to get our bikes covered in tobacco and fag ash Evil or Very Mad and there was even one time my mate came out to find coffe spilled all over his vespa seat so we just started parking in the car park.

My work are fairly biker friendly,

the armed guard on the gate asks for your ID card, but doesnt ask you to take your lid off, so it could be anyone really???

Then when im inside i could park my bike up with the keys in the ignition if i wanted to (but i dont), and no one would take it!

Joys of being in the military really!
