From what I have read lately I think you will ok as long as you take your passport along too with your paper licence.

I'd have thought you'd need both parts of it to be fair. But could be wrong. It's the bit that you're trying to get added to, after all.

Let us know when you get back so that we know! Wink

Hi

Ring them immediatly. I think there are rules about taking a test when you do not have your licence with you but I have a feeling it requires a bit of notice (might be so the test centre can access your licence online).

All the best

No defiantly not,
whens your test, If you phone dvla and say you have lost both parts of your licence, they will reissue them over the phone, so that will save some time getting them, if you have only lost one part you need to fill in forms from the post office, so say you lost it all, when i lost mine it came in 3 days,

best of luck m8

That probably refers to the old school paper license that never had a picture.

Yes, AFAIK you have to take photo evidence only if it is the old style paper only licence. Unlucky there mate.

Well how is it then that a friend of mine just done her bike test and only has the old licence (no photo card), I believe she took her passport instead and that was acceptable, its worth checking out mate, dont get pushed down at the first hurdle as they say.

I'm guessing that you actually meant 'fucking cunt' (singular) and were referring to the person that lost the license.

it's pretty obvious that if you only have an old paper licence they will let you take a test with it. with photo ID, if you have a new licence they are going to want to see both bits.

A friend of mine drove over to swansea to issue get their driving licence re-issued to them after they lost it, may be worth a shot.

Although that was 5 years ago now, so may not be possible now.

THIS HAPPENED TO ME !!

Phone DSA up, find the number on www.dsa.gov.uk

Explain you can't find your licence, they will then fax some forms through to your local test centre, this costed me 5.00 pounds.

You then go, take your passport and then sign the forms the DSA fax through to the office.

then you can do your test Thumbs Up

I saw someone pass their test without having their licence at all. They'd brought their wifes instead of their own, but with their own driver number and ID the examiner filled in a few forms and tested him anyway.

It's pretty simple - if you have the old paper only licence you need to take photgraphic ID. If you have the new licence you need to take both parts. The new paper counterpart is different to the original paper licence.

If your friend had the old licence then as photo ID a passport is perfect. That is how she managed it.

You can't if you have the new 2 part licence.
