Tank

If the tank is full (off the bike) and the filter tap is turned to res or on, with no pipe attatched to it, should petrol come pouring out of it. Or is there some sort of suction from the pipe when it's all connected.

And if it's suppost to pour out with out suction ad it;s not doing, what can be done.

Please sensible replies im trying to make something good out of something really bad, not only will i learn loads from it, but maybe the bike will end up like it was when it left the shop. Which would make up for the bad life it's had!

Is the inside of the tank rusty. If so pipe could be blocked I know this happened on mk1 golf GTi s when they reached a certain age.

No it doesn't seem to be rusty.
It seems ok, but i really want to restore everything on this bike as it's been so badly treated so i really don't want to go out and get a new tank.

Any ideas?

I think that some bikes have a filter in the tap. Try taking it apart to see

Where can i get a nice chrome one or something.

Everywhere keeps asking for the model of my bike but i only know cg125 and think brazil but theres letters etc after it for each individual model.

I think you would be best to take the fuel tap off (it unscrews) and give it a clean. You can even dismantle the tap itself on some of them (but later ones are rivetted together).

Once you have the tap off, try blowing it through with compressed air.
