Hi.

I'm a bit worried. The last few times I've been out on my Gixxer, I've noticed something wierd happens when I push it. Basically, if I open it up it'll go to about 10-12000 revs nice & smoothly, very linear, but when it hits that point, it'll suddenly rev straight up to the redline, as if the wheel was spinning. Although, it doesn't feel like the wheel is actually spinning? Now don't get me wrong, it is only a rare occasion that I'll take it that high, I don't constantly screw it everywhere I go especially not now its winter!), but every once in a while I'll let her rip & this will happen, wether it be dry or wet.

Does ayone have an idea of what it may be? I don't recall it ever happening before, its just gradually started to occur over the last few weeks and I'm a tad worried in case its something bad! Question

Cheers. Thumbs Up

Sounds like your clutch is slipping, get it adjusted asap before you burn it out.

Minor clutch slip can happen in different weather.
Could be that.
Mine does it from time to time.

It could be that he's put car oil in his engine... it needs bike oil...

Friction reducers in car oil can play havoc with wet clutches in bikes... Smile

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I haven't put *any* oil in as of yet. It just had its 4000 mile service just over a week ago and they changed the oils then (or so they say!).

dont trust a garage, they normally take short cuts with other peoples bikes. a few do a good job though normally small ones where you get to know them.

Not unless you have a flying DeLorean Very Happy Classy movies Thumbs Up I've read a few posts on here about funny revving when the clutch needs adjusting, if you wheelie or burnout often, then you're on a fast track to knackered cluctch hell!
