Rear Brake Squeel

Hi folks, I'm getting the most annoying squeek from my rear brake whenever I use it. At first I thought it was a worn pad so I replaced them asap. That seemed to make things better (maybe I just had to brake slightly less cos it was thicker).

However its started doing it again just short of 2 weeks later and it also seems more eager to lock the back up then it has before. The disc itself looks ok with no visible bending and it doesn't seem too worn.

What could be causing it?

(On an SV650S btw)

The squeal could be caused by a missing anti-rattle spring (presses down on the pads) or a dry piston against the back of the brake pads (try a little copper grease on the back (!!!!) of the pads, where the piston touches).

If it is more likely to lock up, this is normally a binding brake, causing greater heat build-up that then makes the back brake more effective, briefly. Then the normal situation is that the disc warps because of the heat.

I'd go for a full caliper strip-down, followed by a bit of copper grease on the back of the pads. Also check that the anti-rattle plate is still there.
