As i have sold my bike and miss it like mad i want to get another bike. If i get one for the road insurance will be silly again and i will only use it in the non existant summer also im going to uni next year so not alot of use for 7 months.

Soooooooo i am seriously considering a track bike. I have seen them on eBay go for like £1,500 - £2,000 which is pretty good.

I just want some advice on are they easy to go to (I have never been to one before) do the track bikes last long or not etc all that kind of stuff.

Been looking at some old school R1's. Cool Also is it something i can contiune to do at Uni (Aberdeen)

Unless it's heavily tuned like a racebike then there's no reason why it shouldn't last as long as a roadbike (unless you stack it!).

There are a few trackbikes here: https://www.mpmotorcycles.co.uk/

Or, there are normally loads on eBay. Failing that, just get a roadbike and remove mirrors, numberplate etc.

You'd be better off with a 600 on track. Korn is faster round a track on his R6 than he was on his R1.

G feels the same about 600's. You'd be better off with a 600 IMO.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Yep, I think the early R1 is the best looking of all of them (and in that colour too Thumbs Up )

You don't need a thou for the track though, and any parts will cost more.

I won't have my car up there. Selling it for a jet ski when i'm there. Cool

Will be putting that in storage and hiring a van (need to get a van licence, can do the same with a bike)

Are the tracks any good up there? Close to the uni? Very Happy

You don't need a licence to drive a van, normal car one is fine.

Why do you want a jet ski and how do you plan to get around on a jet ski if you sell your car Wink Hiring a van is also expensive if you do it often and you need to be over 21 usually with 3 years claim free driving!

I had a go on a 98 r1 recently and they are very agile, i found it easier to ride than an r6 for lots of reasons

trying to ride it to its limits would be different though obviously

road going 98 r1's go for £2500 on ebay regardless of extras so you might as well get one with a few extras like race can etc
