yamaha yzf

hey, been looking at yzf's recently (thundercat models?)

anyway would be looking at getting say the 600 version.

anybody got any advice recomendations on these machines?

would be my first bike

Not a bad first big bike at all.

Can be picked up fairly cheap, about £1500. They still handle well, but not quite supersport standards, and are comfortable for those long journeys.

Insurance shouldn't cripple you either.

They're plenty quick enough for a new rider. Should top 150mph, just.

Hey mate,

Go for one, it's a fantastic ride and is more than quick enough for a first bike. It's my first bike(ever) and I've only had it since mid september, so far it's been forgiving of some of my mistakes. Is really comfy on the long journeys ie 500 miles + going from Leeds to Stirling and back in a weekend. Goes 2 up fine.

As for sporty well I can keep up with ZX6's of a similar age, had 130 out of it and it was no where near the red line and still pulling strong...only i bottled it as I'd had it only 3 weeks at that point. Cranks over real nice, so that i've had my toe 's on the floor round the corners.

It's such a blast to ride, it will do the steady speed touring and some pretty mental blasting on twisties, if you want it to. So far done 4.5K miles since I've had it it's just that much of a fun bike to ride.

Great bikes, and when you get bored and want something bigger theres the YZF1000R Thunderace to upgrade to.

great engine, gearbox a bit clunky, doesnt turn as quick as a more sporty bike,

cheers for info, they seem to be in my price range just now and insurance isnt as bad as other 600's!

i'll need to see one in person first!
