Speed camera changes

Sounds good, but looks to me like another smoke and mirrors bit of misinformation (just like the wide publicised and ignored rules on the use of cameras).

Looks like that they only have to hand over the profits, so are still able to go empire building with more tickets issued, and are now going to be more easily able to install cameras where there have been no accidents.

This interested me:

2 million camera tickets last year
£60 per fine is £120 million raised by the cameras
100 lives a year saved

How many people are killed on the roads every year? I don't know the statistic, but it's going to be a number vastly larger than the number saved by cameras. They are not having an effect great enough to warrant having them. If they saved, say, 2,000 lives a year or something, I would be more inclined to support them, but this tells me they're less about saving lives and more about collecting money.

Not that we didn't know this already.
