Met up with my mate the Arab today, he rides of all things a Suzuki Intruder 600 i think, and me on a GSX-R600. Two bikes for two different worlds, two wheeled montagues and capulets.
Without a word, we looked at each other and chucked the keys to each other and mounted up.
My shouts of "where the **** are the footpegs?" were echoed about 5 seconds later, to which he raised a "and why the hell is my arse up there? jesus fishy, this isn't meant for actually riding, is it?"
"Mate, what are you talking about, you're on a sportsbike, i'm sitting on a sodding armchair with my feet where the wingmirrors should be!"
This went on for a bit, but eventually, we wobbled onto the road.
It took me 100m from pulling away (As wobbly as a CBT but with the sprinking of arrogance that only 5 years of riding can give) to find the footpegs, my legs remembering rearsets and my brain trying to catch up, and off we went, giggling and parping horns.
I heard the Gixer getting revved it's tits off as he attempted to go round a corner, 50-pencing it all the way round.
I put the brakes on, and was mildly surprised and terrified when not much happened, but round i went too, as agile as a barge.
After about 10 miles, we pulled over, stopped, swapped, took the piss, and carried on, both knowing our bike was a proper bike.
So two Suzuki 600s, both completely different.
Mind you, both a bloody laugh to ride, so maybe the two worlds aren't as far apart as the wheel base on that bloody monstrosity.
Happy Days. ____________________ "Is sir addressing me or is he masticating on a house brick? Because either way sir loses his teeth." |
