Hi all had my Aprilia RSV Mille MOT'd last week and the guy noticed I need a new back tyre. Sooo, I've been looking at the Pirelli Diablos. It already has a set of Diablo's on it. However, I've seen the new Diablo Corsa's are these better or what?? Or can anyone else recommend another brand of tyre.
Cheers

Diablo Corsa are good, but I'd go for the Supercorsas myself. Depends how important tyre life is to you.

Diablo corsas, are good tyres. However their stickier than Diablos e.g. don't last as long.

Arrow What is your style of riding?

Arrow Do you ride in the wet or only in the dry?

Arrow Do you want a tyre to last a while even if it means losing some traction?

We need this info before we can begin to recommend a tyre best suited to your riding.

Erm style is relaxed/calm/sometimes racey. But on the whole not manic. I ride in both dry and the wet. Would prefer them to last a while yeah.

Diablos then, better for the wet than the Diablo Corsa. Better milage from the Diablo too

Bridgestone 014's?

I'm running Corsas at the moment after using standard Diablos on my last Blade. I've noticed that the Corsas have a longer warm up and are more skittish in the cold and wet. As the weather has got colder the back end has started to spin up more or slide under power. I have done 3k miles on them though, mostly commuting and B roads and they are now more or less ready to be binned. I'm fairly smooth and sensible when commuting apart from lunchtime blasts or when a decent country road takes my fancy. I would imagine that the Blade will be easier on the rear than the Mille too.

Bloody hell 3k miles.....Mind you I probably do that in a year. Dont fancy shelling out £150+ every year. How many miles did you get on the Diablos?? If your tyres need changing, what are you going for next?

I'd done just over 4K on the standard Diablos when I traded in and there was still life left in em.

I may well stick Diablos back on, I would consider Corsas again if it was spring/summer. As I ride all year round I want something a bit more reassuring as the weather gets worse. I might look at the 014's but I want to read up on them a bit more first, make sure they are more Diablo than Corsa.

I like to use the new tyres thing to try something new, make a necessity a bit more interesting.

I'm running a set of diablo's on my R6, and so far I've got over 3000 miles out of them and 6 track days. They've still got loads of tread left on them.

I have tried the following on the Blade:

010s - good grip in wet and dry, slow but neutral turn-in and cornering but typical bridgestone wear pattern ends up with bar wiggle at 45mph with no hands on the bars. Average wear rate.

Diablos - Neutral again, good dry grip but (on the Blade) always felt a bit disconcerting in the wet, never worked out why. Wore fairly quickly.

014s - Skittish, more so than the 010s, good grip in dry and wet. Wore quite fast.

D208RR - This is the tyre for me, grips like hell, quick turn-in but stable mid corner and seem to be wearing incredibly slowly for a sticky tyre.

All these tyres are on a 16 inch front wheel blade though so it may differ for the RSV.

Cheers

Have you considered the Metzeler Sportec M-1? Supposedly good mileage, stabilty and wet performance.

I can vouch for the M-1 had them on one of my 954's, very stable controlled tyre. I was told that the Diablo was basically the same but newer version of the M-1 though when I went to renew.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have only looked at the Diablos at the minute. Downloaded a tyre test guide from superbikes magazine think those tyres mentioned are reviewed in there. I dont want to buy something thats not right for the bike so need to think carefully.
