tried posting this in workshop, but thaught it might get more views here,

ok people, heres one for you

cbr600fx, just topped her up with coolant and oil, now she wont start unless choke is fully on, and wont run for more than a few seconds. i thaught maybe it was low on petrol, so i topped her up with petrol, and no change.

when she is running, she kinda backfires.

was running fine before i topped up coolant and oil, but i cant see how that would effect it.

i tried starting her there now on full choke and it must have backfired because it made a huge bang from the exhaust, and my ears are still ringing. (it didnt start)

Sounds like you inadervertently disconnected or dislodged something somewhere when you were doing your DIY. Did you have to take any panels off to do the coolant or oil, if so take them off again and check the whole area for loose pipes or wires.

yes, i had to take off the fairing, but also had taken the radiator off to replace the fan unit, however i did not have to disconnect any pipes.

what pipes do you think may have been loosened? fuel line?

is there any point checking the spark plugs?

There might be now you've had that backfiring, they could be fouled up, could be a fuel or electrical fault, sensor or whatever ?? but pound to a pinch you caused it when you were doing the other stuff. Just check that connectors are tight and pipes are on properly everywhere you had access to including the airbox, you haven't dislodged that somehow have you??
