I'm angling for a new lid for Christmas, so I went and tried a load on down at Gericke tonight - the Arai Condor was by far the most comfy, like wearing a protective pillow Smile

Brick Wall <- good for doing this in

Does anyone have one already - if so, is the ventilation any good, etc?

If anyone knows where I can get a plain one for under £220 I'd be very grateful to find out too! Mr. Green

I bought an Arai Condor for £200 earlier in the year. Maybe they have brought out a new version hence the price hike?

Very good fit for me, was a bit heavier than my old Shoei XR1000, but did a good job on protecting my bonce Thumbs Up

Any Arai is going to be decent. Condor's should be pretty cheap as afaik the model is being replaced.

(Bear in mind I picked up a replica Kenny Roberts' slightly higher spec 'Astro J' for £200 in Dobles, Coulsdon last winter).

The best price I've found on websites so far is £219.99 for the plain one, with £249 the more usual price. Gericke had them for £249 too, guess I'm just going to have to search around more...

I was amazed how nice the Arai felt - I have a head shape reminiscent of Kryten from Red Dwarf, which somewhat limits the choice of helmets I have. My current one is an AGV and I assumed (wrongly) that I would have to stick with them, but even the TiTech felt absolutely horrible. The Condor was wonderfully comfortable by comparison.

The best price we've found so far is £199 + £7 p&p from J&S... Thinking

Absolutely gorgeous helmet, i i had the money i may well buy again. except i find the designs a bit plain (if spending £200+ you want to look good!!)

beware mind, once you have a nice lid, you will find it very hard to back to cheap ones!

I deliberately want quite a plain one - my current lid is blue, white and silver, but my new leathers are black and silver and my bike is yellow so it looks like a bit of a 'mare Smile A nice plain black one should look classy for all occasions... Razz

I'm on my third Arai helmet, two Quantums and now an RX7. Crashed in two of them, one biggie with the lid taking most of the impact. I can't see me buying anything else. Thumbs Up

Very comfy.

Although I find the little fents in the visor are very noisy, so anything more than 30min trips or on motorway's/dua;-carriageway's really does require the use of earplugs.
