I am constantly overtaking on the single carrigeways.
I feel its them driving too slow (40mph in a 60 limit)
I ride it at about 70 and thats not pushing it.

I break the speed limit every time i'm on the bike and pass everything that moves, not much to discuss from my end. ____________________ the undemocratically unelected mod of the Scottish section |

I found that when I had my 600, everyone was going far too slowly.
So I was constantly overtaking on the country roads round here, I then realised I was doing 100mph+ on my way to work on roads I know too well and I think I know them like the back of my hand.
I knew I had to slow down or fear my license or life, I now ride a slower bike and do about 60mph max on the same road. |

do people drive to slow? well its really about circumstances, IMO you have to remember not all vehicles go as well as bikes, i potter around in my pick up its not fast by any means in handles like shite usually have chainsaws in the back so dont fancy slinging a couple of grands worth of kit from side to side, so i take it steady you get some gezzer in a bmw who thinks he is damon hill has a car that handles goes stops better than me so he can rattle on a bit faster, then you have someone that may have the flu feeling a bit off not really with it so potters in he BMW. some people dont like driving (like my mum) but have to drive due to where you live, so they drive slow. people have bikes and as we know generally the handle well go well no distractions so are on the ball so may choose to make progress then it seems everyone is out to either become a mobile obstical or out to get you, realitly people are just getting on with their lives.......................... everyone lives at a different pace, and all we can do it except it and stop moaning get on with it |

quite often i do feel its them going too slow!!!!
if for example, its a national speed limit single A road and the road is clear, wide and you can see well ahead...........
WHY THE FCUK do some car drivers refuse to do much more that 35 40 mph, its ok when you can get past em but if you can't , its so bloody frustrating to say the least!!!!
ok i know many old bids when they past their tests , cars then didn't do much more than 40 but that excuse doesn't cut it with me i'm afraid and it isn't just the old bids tbh
i have no problem with people regulating their speed to suit the road conditions etc
nor do i have a prob with people doing bang on 40, 50 , 60 , 70 when maybe if i wasn't behind them i would go faster. As far as i'm concerned they are driving at the limit and thats fine by me, i would never try and pressure someone ahead to speed by trying to intimidate them, that is a tosser that does that imho ____________________ Seven days without laughter......... makes one weak. |

I don't speed, I make progress.
Thing that really does my head in is 35-45mph drivers on NSL country roads, then when they hit a 30mph limit they still do the same speed.
It's also a vision and perception thing. I know in general we are sitting higher up on a bike so get a better view, but there's no excuse for the drivers who stop and brake for everything. Empty roundabout, don't look till the last minute, stop. Junction, get to the junction then look and stop. For godsake look in advance, watch the flow of traffic and match your speed to the god damned gaps!
Ok I'll stop there.
In general it's them. |

I find that generally its old people that don't like to do more than 2/3 of the speed limit on a nice day, slower when its spitting rain.
I find women in cars tend to follow speed limits precisely, which I suppose is a good thing. Can be bad though, because if you are in a rush, you feel guilty overtaking because you know thats how fast you should be going.
I get really fustrated by slow drivers when I'm in the car, as its hard to overtake. On the bike it never bothers me really as 99% of the time is no effort getting past.
THEM because I'm a teenager so I'm always right. |

People drive too slowly. Not only that but they are often overly cautious with it. Worse when it is dark.
I find this in my little Suzuki 4x4 which has a 1.3 engine never mind the bike. If I can manage to drive that at the NSL, they have absolutely no excuse to be doing 45mph in their big shiny mercedes and braking for every corner/oncoming car.
Hell, last time I took my 9hp Honda H100 into town, I overtook eleven cars on it in the 24 miles of NSL road on the way home (I was counting them). ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. You poor soul, you must have been a right bastard in a former life...
Anyhoo... I think the answer to the question is all down to conditions, much like others have said. Being a somewhat "timid" rider myself, I have often found myself in a situation where I'm holding up other bikes, who are no doubt thinking similar thoughts to what we all do when stuck behind a slow moving car. For this reason, it would be hypocritical of me to make a general statement like "car drivers are always at fault". Having said that, when you're up in the Peaks and someone does 40 in an NSL in perfect conditions and a straight road, then continue to do 40 into the next village, you do wonder if they're winding you up... ____________________ Monster m600
