I ran a search for threads on this but nothing, how dangerous does this thing look, can't imagine it takes much to accidently knock it on by mistake and find out as your accelerating hard from a junction or a fuse goes and your on your ass:

I dunno just doesn't seem safe to me, may be alright if it's used just to get a feel to where you should be accelerating to maintain a wheelie then not rely on it but how does it know how much you weight or the bike?

I would find that more useful for setting it at 30 and close to the handlebars so I dont have to worry about constantly checking the speedo for getting pinched going 2 mph over the limit.

I made a 'wheelie wand' myself using a stainless steel welding rod attached to a switch and wired into the side stand engine kill switch. Was really effective and can be made for less than £1. I was gonna start marketing them but didn't fancy being bombarded with complaints if they went wrong.

Does it not just use a tilt sensor?

cool, so they do work then do they? be fun to try out either way, a little like having a stabiliser on the back in drag racing to stop you throwing yourself up.

I've considered making a wheelie wand before as it seems pretty damn simple and no way worth the £100+ I've seen them being sold for.

I had been wondering about making one that could do angles, (and not have something sticking out as well) but wasn't sure about a method of measuring it well enough.

I presume that one is just a damped weight than hangs verticall whatever angle the bike is at.

gimpy; the idea is that with it on it'll cut out the engine at a certain angle rather than speed.
As far as a fuse going or the test switch getting knocked or a fuse going, well that can happen with most other bits on your bike as well Smile.

Yes, can balance point now, though haven't done recently Sad.
Would still be nice to have something if I'm trying to go past that, but would want something more sophisticated than just a wand and a bit worried by something as described.

Had wondered about something connected to the rear brake - just for serious arse about to go down and cost me lots kinda things Smile.

I wouldnt fancy one that kills the engine Shocked There are some on the market that just momentarily cut the ignition, so you set the angle, then when it gets there it cuts the ignition slightly, which may mean you run a bit rich for a few metres, but it's better than having your engine cut without being ready on the clutch.

G.. a wheely wand won't do anything but trouble if you can already wheely to balance point. If you want it for going past it as you just said then when the engine cuts you'll be straight off the back.. Once you're past BP the only thing that'll bring you back is rear brake and depending on bike, letting off throttle..

Cruise control for bikes, that's quite a novel idea.

Maybe my post was unclear. If you connect the switch to your side stand switch then it will only cut the power momentairly. The £80 wheelie wands work this way but you can make them yourself for a couple of quid.

A mercury tilt switch would make the unit less of an eyesore but any big bumps in the road would trip the power too.

Your better off learning the old fashioned way IMO.

In the first pic it looks pretty hard to accidently knock it on, unless ur leg gets up there... lol, as its postioned on the back.

Fuse going? well it could happen, but u could also get a blow out whilst cournering at 100mph, but u still do it!
