I know of a few people who swear by the garmin units, with touratech mounts on the handbars.

I use Alturion PRO installed on my iPAQ, but don't have a mounting solution, so stick it in my tank bag so I can read it, as well as listen to it piping the audio thru the autocom

Im refering to Dec RIDE letters section, 'GPS tip be a truck' It mentions a Sat Nav challenge in the September issue.

From the information I have the Garmin systems seem to be the best, I think they are the only ones waterproof too.

Tom Tom is ok but has its problems, I think it's more suited to a car tbh.

I read the article, they challenged a cabby with his local knowledge and them with a GPS on their bikes to go to different places I think in Birmingham.

Unfortunately I don't save em, read em then chuck em.

ive got it here somewhere. Will try and scan it if i find it. Wasnt very useful though.

Basically just said that the BMW/triumph versions af teh Gramins were more expensive and that the newest garmin is king. Seemed like a bit of a rushed article to me.

Their conclusion was that Sat Nav is very useful, but not always entirely acurate/up to date. Cabbie that has worked in teh city all his life will only be a little slower (i.e a few mins) and unsurprisingly the guy with the map came last.
