where the cable emerges out of the sheathing, i pull in the clutch and its all frayed and there is about 3 strands of steel holding it, i seriously doubt it will last till the end of the school driveway,

how can i ride it home without the clutch, what happens when i ned to stop and pull away

When my clutch went on my NSR I rode it for a few days. All you have to do is stall the bike every time you stop and when you need to start moving again push your self along abit and restart the bike and give it abit of throttle. I never mastered the art of gearless changes but it can be done with a bit of throttle play, brute force and a hell of a lot of noise.

ow right, i can change with no clutch, but the only thing is that my bike doesnt like starting as the gearbox oil i put in is nakered and doesnt start first time and have to bump it all the time, but i suppose it will start when the gearbox oil is warm...

how much would a new one cost me ?

Dont know if I am too late on replying, but ride without a clutch.

To do this, keep the bike in neutral, rev it slightly then put it into gear, be careful as it will jump and start to move( or if you use to less revs, stall) then when you are ready to chang gears follow the same procedure except oubviously you cant use the clutch.

If you are going to stop go down the gears and find neutral and roll up in Neutral.

Kev

Sorry if you have got home and i am to late on replying Thumbs Up

Know its too late, but riding without a clutch is quite easy. Problem is pulling away, the easiest to do I found is paddle the bike so its moving a bit then clunk into first. I rode my Enfield home 50 miles without a clutch cable, if you can do it on an Enfield you can do it on anything

I remember when my clutch cable snapped on my 400 once. Was so funny getting it home. Laughing

I had to slip it into neutral when i came to a stop and rev the balls of it to put it into first and pull away. It would wheelie a bit and wasn't very controlable but got me home. Only stalled once when i was at some lights on a hill and had to turn around go down the hill and back up again. Had to do it twice because the lights were against me. Also closer to home i had to go up the kerb and drive around a corner as lights up a hill again. Lucky there was no one there. Laughing

When my clutch cable broke I just rode without the clutch.

When i stopped at lights I flicked the killswitch (crap at finding neutral) and when I was ready to go again just held in the starter button until I went. Probably bad for the bike, but It got me home ok. Thumbs Up
