hey,

somebody told me that you will fail your mot if you only have one rear view mirrow,

i currently have one, i was also told that if i take it off and have non, it will pass,

so im wondering if ive got this right, with both mirrors...or no mirrors...i will pass my mot, but with only one mirror i will fail?

need some help, cheers

From the testers manual you must have the obligatory mirrors which are -
Quote:

Obligatory Mirrors
Bodied vehicles must have two mirrors, one of which must be fitted to the offside.
unbodied vehicles other than mopeds must have one offside and one nearside mirror.
unbodied vehicles classed as mopeds must have one mirror. If first used on or after 1 August 1978 it must be fitted to the offside.

So if you have a moped it must have one on the offside, bikes must have the two

I think its more or less up to the tester to be honest ask yours to see if he will pass it or not because of that, i have had many bikes pass their mot's with no mirrors Thumbs Up

Hi

Might have changed, but in the online copy of the bike MOT test manual there is no mention of mirrors at all, nor does any site I can find. There have been plenty of bikes sold new in the UK with only a single mirror which should fail the MOT according to those rules (eg, my first bike).

All the best

Keith
