Confused

Not impressed to be honest, i owned the bike about 3-4 months (cant remeber Mad )

But already i have had it scratched by some one. But my main gribe is upon further inspection i have loads of scratchs all over not noticable unless you really look for them, brakes discs are starting to rust but i ride the bike every day so wtf.

The scratchs all over look like hmmm hard to explain.... i think it from the leaves hitting it Laughing Weak piece of shite, hopefully some wax will remove them. And a new cover will help her for the garage and outside.

I was thinking of bringing her back with me (to the UK) but maybe towards the end of next year shes may be traded in for a 2006/7 Zx6r what you think ??

Well, Kwaks have the same sort of quality issues as Suzukis, don't they?

Bit o' polish or T Cut should sort those scratches out, it's probably from the air brushing against the panels at over 30mph. Razz

thnx, i might possibly take you up on that Smile

funnily enough yesterday i clicked the map in your sig and chequed out where in the USA you are

I reckon america wd be a good country to tour one day.

I had the idea of getting a flight over, buying a bike on ebay, riding around for a few weeks and then selling it on ebay.

Im not quite sure how the ownership documents wd work out, but id think of something.

Its more like a pipe dream than something Im actually gonna do in the next few years though.

Ditch the Gixxer, Yamaha's aren't much better and Honda's are just boring. Get a proper bike, get a Kwak.

I understand that it's new and shiny but aren't scratches what happens when you own a bike for a little while?
I've never had a new bike, don't think I could deal with the preciousness of it.

TRX, dented frame, mat black, scratches everywhere, runs like a dream, best bike I've ever had.

McGee, you're questioning Suzuki's build quality simply because you've managed to scratch the fuck out of your bike already?

That's like questioning the quality of a pair of pants because you've crapped in them. Neutral

Next time try using soap and a sponge to clean it rather than rocks and leaves. Idea

Gotta agree with rookie. Isn't this the same bike that you threw down the road last month whilst on your way to macdonalds? Rolling Eyes

Buy a black bike and learn what it is to keep it clean and scratch free! Black gloss shows every slightest scratch in bright light, the matt gunmetal/black lower panels, which I would assume take the most punishment don't show anything at all, even this time of year.

Mines a boring well built Honda too. Wink

If you park it outside dirty and put a cover on then the wind will probably move the cover around enough to get the dirt to scratch the bike.

All the best

He didn't bin it Nath, it just got pranged, it wasn't dropped.

These are the sorts of scratches that appear on any bike, aren't they? It's just what happens to the finish, I wouldn't like to see the effect on a matt bike.

If you're worried, I still say t-cut, but I expect they're coming from things like leathers rubbing or like Keith said, the cover.

I have owned Suzukis, Kawasakis, Yamahas and Hondas and they all have their faults but the Hondas have been the best to live with, by far. My observations (read sweeping generalisations) are:

Suzukis - cheap plastics, I actually cut myself on the tip of the fairing by the screen on a GSXR600 because the plastic was so thin. Fasteners also rust very quickly. Nice gearboxes though.

Kawasaki - Alloy falls apart as soon as you look at it, brake calipers also seem to collect more crap than other makes (don't know how) and end up binding sooner. Plastics are better than Suzuki but not as good as Honda. Suspension is normally solid on their sports bikes. Paint is very thin.

Yamaha - Drink oil for some strange reason, the plastics are almost as good as honda but the paint isn't. gearboxes are halfway between Honda and Suzuki.

Honda - very well made and do exactly what they should, I suppose that could be called boring, normally by the owners of the other three big names. Crap gearboxes and iffy fuel injection.

That's it really, just what I've observed over 13 years of owning and working on bikes.

Cheers

Grim

Well my bikes have gone:

Honda, Honda, Cagiva, Suzuki, Suzuki, Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, Honda, Honda, Honda, Honda, Honda (with a Cagiva winter hack).

So you could say I've finally learnt Very Happy

I've worked on countless thousands of bikes too and I get a lot of my observations from that.

Cheers

Seems to vary with models. My early FZ750 uses virtually no oil, later models had revised pistons (moved to slipper pistons) and did use oil.

FZR600 drinks the stuff Crying or Very sad .

It does seem to vary from bike to bike but I have seem FZR1000s that drink a litre (the difference between the high and low marks) every 1000 miles without smoking or ever missing a beat.

My mates R1 uses about 500ml every thousand miles and his FJ1200 uses about 750ml every thousand miles.

My Thundercat never seemed to use any at all so it is definitely a generalisation.

Cheers
