Im getting my rear powdercoated (wheel, that is Wink ).

I want to get the bearings out, how difficult is it? Is it something I can do at home, cause I don't want to bugger it up.

Is there anything else I should know before starting it?

Thanks

Bearing removal is easy enough.

You will need a pair of circlip pliers, a hammer and a drift punch.

With the wheel off, remove the circlip from round the outside of the bearings, push the tube between the two bearings off to one side a bit. Now hammer the lowermost bearing out by tapping with the hammer and drift against the inner race in a circular fashion until it drops out. Repeat for the other bearing, I tend to use a socket (that fits neatly on the inner race) on an extension bar for this one now you can fit it in.

I would probably put new bearings in afterwards if they have been in there for a bit. Don't pay four times what they actually cost by getting them from a bike shop, look in the yellow pages under "Bearing Factors", you will need the number stamped into the outer race of the bearing.

Sound advise. I found this when replacing swingarm pivot bearings in my mountain bike. From orange (who make the bikes) £25...for 2 bearings!! local bearing shop £6. Sorted.
