Hi, I'm writing on behalf of my mate today...

He's snapped his DT50 key in the steering lock, and can't start it. We've had the ignition apart, and there's a red, brown, black and black and white wire.

If anyone can tell us what wires to cut to get it to start, we'd be very appreciative Very Happy PM me if you want, so that any chavs reading this don't learn how to nick the things..

It's an L reg bike, so late 91-92, I think.

Need a reply ASAP, because he can't get home from college else!

Cheers, and thanks on behalf of him, too!

Jon

If there's any sort of code number on the ignition barrel where the key goes in you may be able to get a key cut from the number (long shot, but Timpson sometimes cut keys from codes). Try sorting that out, or at least try and get the key out before hotwiring the thing. If you do you've got the hassle of fixing the ignition wiring then...!

Tom says thanks for the replies, but he ended up getting it trailered away.

He never had a spare key, despite being told beforehand to get one cut! So he's going to get a key cut from the barell (there's a place down here that can do it).

Think he's going to try the brown wire in the meantime - he can still operate the steering lock, so he can park it with the lock on. If anyone starts it they can only go round in circles then Laughing

Cheers,
Jon
