What pads do you find best and worst?

How long did they last, and how powerful were they? As I may be getting some new pads soon.

I hear EBC are good for car brakes, but have also heard that ebc's werent very good on bikes?

Is this true?

Thanks

EBC HH are good, had them on my ZX6R and got them on my Gixxer BUT they can SOMETIMES cause disc warpage....which has happened on the Gixxer.

Were fine till I did Mallory park, then the day after when I had put the road fairings back on and road to work I noticed a pulsing and judder, on closer inspection I found it is definately warped and allegedly the EBC's can contribute to this sometimes.

Carbone Lorraine or whatever they are called are rathed by some people.

I know alot of people that have bought all the fancy makes and still to this day rate the standard OEM ones above everything.

EBC HH sintered pads for me too. Braking efficiency is unaffected by the damp on sintered pads which is good for this time of year, last for ages too. Be aware that they will wear your discs down more quickly.

What are sintered pads? Are they the ones with the 3 grooves/lines down them?

I've used Carbonne Lorraine and EBC and had no complaints with either..

Sintering is a method for making objects from powder, increasing the adhesion between particles as they are heated. Sintering traditionally serves for manufacturing ceramic objects, and has also found use in such fields as powder metallurgy.

I've only ever used EBC HH on my bike. Must have got about 10,000 miles out of the last set, while I'm not an uber hard braker that does include a lot of trackdays.

Aarrgghh! EBC HH pads eat brakes discs, I have warped three sets of discs in my time and all of those were with EBC HH pads. I have now gone back to OE pads and my discs have been fine ever since.

Standard Honda discs for a Blade are £285 a disc, I got PFM supersport upgrade discs which are incredible but they were still £200 a disc.

An interesting point is that PFM do NOT honour their warranty of you use EBC HH pads. Make of that what you will.

Cheers

Never been a great fan of EBC HH, though believe they work on some bikes.

I would go for Carbone Loraine SBK3 or Performance Friction.

Coudn't comment on how long they last and neither are cheap, but they stop you with the least effort and the best 'feel' for me.

I've never been a big fan of ebc pads since I had a set break up on my old VRF750. The brakes wern't working to well so I took the caliper off to investigate & found that the pad was coming away from the backplate. Started using AP pads after that & was very happy with them. They probably do wear disks out tho, as Ive worn out to sets of from disks on my yzf750 in 23,000 miles. Just looking at replacing the disks again now. Yam disks are dear so it looks like it'll be a set of ebc pro-lites.

EBC greenstuffs / kevlars are wank. OE stuff is a lot better. Never tried HH's.

Do brembo do pads at all. They do the best calipers and cylinders etc (well I imagine so they seem to be on the most expensive bikes) so I imagine would have good quality pads.

EBC HH sinterd. i put them in and noticed no difference at all. I carried on thrashing about getting the back wheel off the ground a fair few times. one day when messing around i noticed my discs looked a bit odd. On inspection the pads were down to the metal after 800 miles!!! Shocked

I decided they were shit and bought some standard pads.
My god what a difference! i nearly died about 4 times by nearly ending up the back of someone! they got a bit better as they bedded in, but i would still say that they arnt half as good as the HH sintered pads.

they are awsome, but i think i shall save them for track days and summer fun as they are too expensive for every day use and i think they bring out the hooligan in me Cool Laughing

What?! Sintered pads are hard as hell, I wouldn't have thought it was physically possible to wear them out in that space of time. In my experience they last about three times longer than standard pads (at the expense of your disc wearing out).

I'd have to agree, I reckon your brakes were probably binding. Either that or you do a LOT of rolling stoppies Very Happy

Cheers

who told you ebc do good car pads?
probably someone who hasnt got a car.
or some chav boy who likes the fact that they sell them in colours.
ebc are not good at car pads.
dont know about thier bike stuff as i ride so slow i hardly ever use the brakes and the ones that were fitted when i got the bike will probably still be on it when i sell it

I am a big fan of Carbone Lorraine Sintered A3+ pads, there the road biased pads for most bikes. for which they don't do SBKs for.

I've had Carbone Lorraine Pads in my last 3 bikes and can't fault them, had no problem with them wearing discs down to quickly or anything and they stop very well indeed giving good feel.

I found EBC Greenstuff ones to fade alot so got pissed off with them.

Also I quite like the pads I have in the CB450DX I have at the moment, they don't fade and they work amazingly well even on the fully cast undrilled discs!

EBC's in each bike/scoot I've owned Thumbs Up

They didn't last very well in the moped, but I did kane it and then stop from 50mph in about a busses length, every time I came to a junction Embarassed More than likely a contributary factor, but shows how well they worked Wink Thumbs Up
