Best places, have a look through www.fool.co.uk

Who should you avoid, dealer finance that's secured on the bike with really high interest rates.

Always go for the loast interest rate, try northern rock, they are typicaly very cheap.
You should be looking at an APR of less than 8%

It doesn't work like that. It's monthly payments.

Confused I'm not a loan expert.

But is the monthly payment not your minimum monthly payment?

But loans have a lower interest rate the more money you borrow. Otherwise i could get 25k at 4.9% pay 22k back intstantly and have 3k at 4.9% interest.

I believe there are flexible loans like that my there is loads of small print

No unfortunately that is not the case with most loans.

You find minimum monthly repayments typically on credit cards.

Some loans will allow you to make one off payments, overpay, payment breaks. Some charge you for this, some don't.

There are accounts run by Egg or Cahoot which are a baw-hair away from being credit cards without the plastic. Thereby allowing you a lot more freedom. This is something I personally am looking into for refinancing some student debt.

Fool.co.uk is a good place to go to find out more about loans.

I also use the moneysupermarket.co.uk for comparisons sake.

Do not get payment protection insurance unless you are very financially unstable (in which case you shouldnt be getting a loan in the first place ) Razz

Most small print will state that when you pay a lump sum you incur 2 months interest. There are also issues with how they would work out repayment terms and what not if you were to pay 22k instantly. For example I doubt many folk would typically be accepted for a 25k loan for 3 years.

Shop around and threaten to leave your bank - that always works.

www.theaa.co.uk

just got a £5k loan to cover are 2 bikes and equipment. APR is 6.4% i believe anyway we pay back £5700 so thats only £700 more than we borrowed!

Cool!!

And we applied online took all of what 3 minutes which was rather scary!!

No fees for early repayment either, no secured on your house just got to be over 18 and have a job!
